Why are there 7 no votes? This isn't a divisive topic....Obama doesn't deny it. Heck, he recently felt compelled to make a statement that he won't smoke in the White House. If he didn't smoke why would he bother to say that? Everyone who voted no obviously either pays no attention or is so blinded by partisanship they say anything they think is on the side of their guy.

Then they said he quit...until it leaked out that he was smoking...then they said he was having trouble quitting.

If the "media" was "hiding" (so much inneundo requires multiple quote marks) Obama's tobacco use, they did a pretty poor job of it since it appears over 75% of us knew he was a user.
I personally wish him the best in his efforts to permanently quit.
Active tobacco use is more challenging to quit than any other drug of which I'm aware - including heroin and other strong opioids.

The point was to show news stories searches...not water it down with a + qualifier that picks up any web hit.

1100 news stories for Obama smokes cigarettes vs. 219,000 news story hits on Palin can see Russia.
Just a little news saturation on a Palin comment she didn't even make....and an obvious effort by the news media to scuttle talk of Obama smoking cigarettes.
Plain as day if you search correctly.
MJ, you should really try to stop shooting yourself in the foot. Have you bothered to look what stories your google search yielded? I skimmed through the first pages of the result list you linked to and found not a single story about Palin's comment. Apparently Google thought you just mistyped 'palin' and actually meant 'plain', also you did not quote the phrase, therefore Google gave you all sorts of hits with combinations of the words Russia, can, see and plain. As all of them are not really rare it is not surprising that the hit count is relatively high.
I took the liberty to put "Palin can see Russia" into the search field on the site you linked to. Result:
