They could have just gotten one single first down when they got the ball back with less than three minutes to play and not had to play "OT".

Hit the nail on the head.. Stupid play calling on 3rd and 2 cost the Colts their season..

Check out my thread about this

Colts backers should be disappointed. Having said that, they weren't exactly moving the ball, just had one fluke play in the 2nd half, where the DB was sleeping. There is no reason to believe the Colts would have moved the ball in OT, but they may have.

This game should not have gone into OT to begin with.

If the Refs were not crooked the colts would have gotten the ball back.

I didn't see the first penalty in OT, but the 2nd and 3rd calls had to be made, they were obvious and easy.

Overtime rules are fair.

Team A gets to play special teams/offense
Team B gets to play special teams/defense
AT LEAST.

The NFL doesn't want another Q, because what happens if you are tied after another 15 min? 1pm overtime games ruin the viewship for 4pm games and the nfl doesn't want that. This is a TV revenue generated league. The NFL wants a quick, relatavely fair way to decide the game and this sudden death is that.

This game proves that the Colts win because of Manning and not dungy. His defense had a chance at the end, but they lost, while is QB sat on the sidelines.

These stats come from USA Today and MAA Online. The studies were done in 2004. Sorry, I couldn't find anything more recent, but it is still accurate.

Historically, the team that wins the toss only wins on the opening possession about 30% of the time. That means that about 70% of NFL overtimes have resulted in each team getting at least one possession.

51% of the time, the team that wins the toss eventually wins the game. 44% of the time the team that loses the toss wins the game. 5% of all overtime games have ended in a tie.

If that first call isn't made though, then the others ones don't even happen.

Was the first call a bad call? I was walking away from the TV and didn't watch the replay or even see the call. I do know it was 2nd and 4 and I was thinking it was going to be 2nd and 14. Obviously, it wasn't offensive holding. However, if no penalty was called, SD may have converted a 3rd and 4.

If I had the Colts, I'd probably be bitching too.

Watching the highlights to see what happened in a game isn't a very good representation.

If so, you would think that all runningbacks do is run for long touchdowns, all Michael Vick did was run for long gains ( without all those passes he over/underthrew).

You'd think the baseball player that struck out 4 times in a game but bashed a home run the 5th at bat was some super slugger.

Easy solution. Keep the rules the same but give each team a chance to go on offense. After the San Diego TD they would kick to Indy. If Indy ties the game the next team to score wins. If Indy doesn't score game over.

how nice of you to skip over my post

what part of "go chargers!" did u not understand? i had money on sd

im not bitching about the game but the rule.

Please ignore my friend Parlay when it comes to do with SD or USC... his homer tinted shades have him seeing one thing only...all the time. I've often wondered why he doesn't try out for the USC cheerleading squad. I mean he can toss hot 20 year olds in the air, hold them perched up high by there tight little asses and most of all root, root, root for his team

44% since 2006 have won the coin toss and won the game without the other team even getting one play offensively off.

Not a bad idea.

I think the best idea for a rule change would be the 1st team to score 4 points wins! It would force offenses to actually try for a TD after winning the toss.
:103631605I thought about this one about a year ago. I like it a lot.

Probably won't see it happen though. Goodell seems firm with no OT changes.
