USC has come up big at home, winning its five games by a combined 204-33, including 45-7 over decent No.18 ASU. ND has come up small once already this season when faced with adversity, losing at home to Purdue 41-16. (Purdue is 1-2 (0-3 ATS) road since) Irish will have to come with a big effort to stay close. Pass. Bol all.

I think USC is for real, but If ND can keep USC under 125 yds rushing, I think they can stay within 3 tds. see(VAtech,Cal, oregon st,Stanford).I think making USC one dim. is ND's only chance of keeping this close.

USC is a different team than last year, but still a good one. Can't compare this year's team to last years IMO.

Auburn has played 21 halves of great football, but they have not played anyone as good as Cal this year in what is clearly a down year in the SEC.

LSU had an open date, you didn't see them put their hands up to go play V-tech to open the season.

As far as playing poorly in some games this year, they had one bad game, Stanford, and they came back to win. The way Oregon State is playing right now it would be difficult for any team to go into Corvallis and come out with a win.

Take Auburn out of Jordan Hare and they are a good but not great team. Their best road victory was at Tennessee, which got beat worse at home by Notre Dame.
you live up to you name, lets take a look at a few things

how is Cal so much better than UGA? I know they have had a good season but a down year in the SEC is better than a good year in the PAC 10. And by the way if you are so big on Oregon State as a solid team... LSU played them to start the season???

And your last point: Auburn beat TN 34-10; ND beat TN 17-13 - how was the ND loss a bigger loss???

nothing wrong with being a homer, just try to be accurate also

WC...USC comes plays Ohio State in a 2 year series in 2008 and 2009. OSU has Texas for the next 2 years and the Miami Fla. in 2010 and 2011 after playing USC twice.

Dan,

I'm not bashing the SEC like many others have been this year, but they are having a down year. Tennessee has a **** defense to go along with their 3rd string QB, that is why they make ND and Vanderbilt look like world beaters. Georgia, LSU, they are good but not as good as last year.

As far as the bowl games go, the SEC may in deed do well...especially seeing that most of the SEC tie-ins will be against Big 11 teams. But I know if Auburn has to play USC the SEC will have at least one loss.

I'm not an Aubrun fan but I have to stick up for them a little here. No one seems to mention the fact they they wern't suposed to play the Citadel. Thet scheduled Bowling Green who is 8-2 and gave Oaklahoma about all they could handle. But bowling green backed out of that game so Auburn had to find someone to play. Sure they don't sceduale a real hard non conferance. But if you played in the SEC you have to be stupid to sceduale a tough non conferance because they are usually the best conferance. I will agree they are down a little this year but how is Auburn supposed to know that when they scedualed these games 4 years in advance.

If your Auburn you have to assume that every year UGA, Tenn, UF, and LSU will be very good. Plus they have to play a championship game. If I played those teams I'd sceduale easy non conferance games to.

I will give it to USC for scedualing tough non coferance games but if they didn't they would never play anybody good. The pac 10 is USC and Cal and maybe ASU thats it everybody else is decent at best.

I would put USC #1 just for the record. but I don't think you can say they are clearly the best team and would blow out everybody else.

Also if you watched all the Auburn games this year you would know that the game against Alabama was clearly the worst game the've played this year. Yet they still won. Oaklahoma has yet to play a great game this year. You might make a case that they played great against Texas but that it. They have let teams like Kst., Oak St, Tex A&M, and Bowling Green stay in the game with them. Hell Kansas and Baylor hung with them for 2 or 3 quarters. They even tried to run the score up on Baylor and couldn't.

I must also say that I'm looking forward to the rose bowl. Michigan is not great this year but they are very good and I'll be curious to see what Cal can do against them.

Dr. Smith...

Cal is better than Georgia because they are ranked 4th in the country, their only loss coming to the Number 1 team in the country in their house and barely. Georgia is ranked 8th despite losing at home to a good but not great Tennessee team and getting spanked on the road to the #3 team in the country. Cal's offense is rated 5th in the country...Georgia's 29th. Cal's D is ranked 11th..Georgia's 16th. You think I'm biased? Of course I am, but not about Cal being better than Georgia, or anyone else in the SEC except Auburn.

Why are you confused about Cal being a better team? Your question should be is Georgia really better than Arizona State? Arizona State lost to two better teams than Georgia, has not lost at home, pummelled the 11th ranked team in the country and are currently ranked 16th in the BCS, 8 spots below Georgia and five spots behind a team they destroyed! That is why I'm biased, because I know it's BS.

Oregon State lost AT LSU because their kicker missed three extra points, not because LSU dominated them. Am I saying OSU is better than LSU, no way. LSU has one of the best defenses in the country. But if LSU went into Oregon State right now they would certainly have their hands full.

As for Tenn losing at home to ND being a bigger loss than Auburn, I stand by that comment. They were supposed to lose to Auburn. ND on the other hand is a bad team...proved it the next week with a home loss to Pitt. I don't care if Tennessee was playing an offensive lineman at QB, if they were an elite team they would not lose to ND at home in front of 100,000 fans.

Dan....:nono5:

Good luck to you too my friend, I would like nothing more than to see Arkansas beat LSU this weekend (although I think I saw you were an Arkansas State alum). So then we can throw Arkansas into the mix of all the great teams in the SEC!!!!

As for the Pac 10..it is indeed a down year, especially at the bottom. But I hear every year how bad the Pac 10 is yet every year come bowl season a "mediocre" Washington State beats Texas or Oregon State destroys Notre Dame or Oregon destroys Colorado. I think a good gauge this year of the Pac 10 strength is going to be the Holiday Bowl (ASU vs. Texas A&M or OK State) and the Sun Bowl (Purdue vs. Oregon State).

The SEC is the best conference, but not this year. The Big 12 South is damn good conference, and the 3rd best team in the Pac 10 blew up the Big 10 co-champs...

Screw the NCAA Div. I presidents.

WC,

I actually agree with you for the most part that the pac 10 doesn't get enough respect but I hope you don't really think ASU is 37 points better than Iowa. That was the 3rd game of the year. It was at ASU, and Iowa is a much better team now, As they have won their last 7 games and there only other loss was to Michigan.

The fact is the Pac 10 usually does pretty good in the bowl games and I'll give them that.

For the record I think Purdue beats up on Oregon St. Purdue would have a much better record if Orton didn't get hurt.
