the skybook contests were so good, itd be awesome to have a prop heavy contest for football over under on preist holmes yards, over under manning touchdowns, will sapp record a sack?. . stuff like that. .have like 10-15 props to pick from, pick 5 or 6 a week or something. i mean the digits could be different, but i like the concept a lot

let me understand...
you don't have big bankroll
but.. you have big skills...

if that's true.. within 5 years starting with $300 you should have a huge profit...
so how come you don't have a big bankroll..

If I was the contest lord, I would make it affordable. Maybe 100 an entry. Get a book to match some fees, pay top ten, of course loaded at top 3. Would make it easy for newbies, and sharps could enter 5 times. I am not sure of the gaps from first to tenth, but for 100 I think anything over ten paid places would cheapen it. Any higher entry fee and people would pass. I think I would rather have everyone in there, with reduced position payouts. That is how I would market it...Best Wishes...OF

Forgot the format, probably the most accepted and easy to grade and post lines would be sides only. Have all games available, all with 1/2's so no ties. Would play hell with the 3's. You must select 5 games per week. But entire sked to choose from. Keep it simple for everyone.

I was thinking along the lines of a contest within the RX that would be of sufficient buy-in and payout that would attract perhaps the most serious of entrants, selections would have to be posted early enough to benefit fellow posters, members and viewers for their own purposes as well. Benefits the contestants and all who view the challenge. If sponsors could be attained to add to the pot, would be great advertising value for those that stepped up. Formats could be developed.

Have a king-of-mountain type contest. Say you have 1000 put up $50. you get 5 picks (sides/totals) with a total points for the weekend without going over being the tiebreaker. Top half survive to the next week, bottom half, out. Keep doing it until you have a champion. Payout for the top 48, whatever.

Like both ideas of either sides only or sides and totals. Preference as to number of plays to 3 in lieu of 5. Unique concept on the 1/2, but not sure ties need to be eliminated. If it's to benefit the forum as well as the contestants, better to have the challenge off the opening line which is available to all, both contestants and viewers. The 1/2 surely would affect the choice of the contestants, particularly off 3, 4, 6, & 7, but could leave the viewer confused in their own personal choice.

I think the BHB Contest was fun last year.

They also gave out tons of money.

I think it was 1000 to the weekly winner and 5000, 3000, 2000 to the overall winers.

Picking every game on the Sunday board by the side.

I like the 1/2 wrinkle for the RX contest. Talk about posters agonizing decisions. Plus it would gain the rx some notice as an innovator. Maybe that is too advanced. But boy would it be fun. Adds a entirely different of capping. Which 1/2 has the most value...I would go for 3 sides, but others may like the standard 5. I am ready to sign up now...Best Wishes...OF

That is a valid question and the truth is, it all comes down to disipline (sp?) I have gotten better but not where I need to be. For the past 4 seasons, I have made picks every week and have a small list of people I send them to. I have gone:
44-31
36-29
38-28
39-22

I don't have a certain amount of picks each week, I only pick what I like. If I can correct my bad habits, I should do GREAT!

Can't wait for some NFL contests here. Missed 'em last season as I only discovered the site in late December.

Thanks guys! Good Luck to all!

Last season we had the BHB ... pick em all (sides)

The Parlay Contest ( most three teamers )

and the

Buc's fan special ( very fun contest ) lowest and highest scoring each week plus the "29" pool. Everybody who posted up got a random NFL team. ( Rams f*cked me all year, once on MNF for the "29" pool )

I ran a contest in another forum that mirrored the rules in the Hilton. It was easy to score and our top players would have cashed HUGE in the real show, including me ... arrgggggg !

FWIW ...

I like funks idea about a prop contest. I would also kick butt in any money fantasy football league, sportsline preferred ...

I'm looking forward to the season. I would suggest 3 games per week or do a cumulative of 50 picks for the entire regular season. Could take poll on how many we would have for $100 entry and how many for $250. I would say we could use the line for a contest sponsor and plays must be in atleast one hour before your first game you selected starts.
