thansk guys,,,, I won the play so the question is MOOT,,,, but I NEED TO KNOW jsut for a value search ,,,,,

often OLYMPIC will have a 4.5 while PINNY will have a 5 on the same game, OF course the Vig is modified accordingly....I think it is roughly 40 to 60 cents but it really depends on the situation I think

You might see something like OLYMPIC OVER 4.5 -145 & PINNY OVER 5 + 110....

IMHO if you are playing a 4.5 vs a 5 taking the 5 in a worst case isnt that bad becauz it can only cauz a push...but it isnt the same story with 5 & 5.5

In you example I would much rather have under 5 -145 than under 4.5 -110 that was only 35 cents.....Five is very possible score...

goodnite guys....

gotta wake up at 6am...aaarrgghhhh 1220 now

Excellent question. In fact, I've wondered something similarly when a book allows you to buy points. Is it worth it to buy that extra half point?

Take a look in the Handicapping forum here at therx.com. Look at my subject line "Buying points, is there any value in this?" There have been some good posts on that subject.

Also, if you are serious about betting, buy Stanford Wong's book "Sharp Sports Betting". He discusses the value of points in the NFL but I think a lot of the same principles are valid in other sports. I bought my copy at the gambling store on University Ave. in Tempe just off the 101. There are other places that sell that book as well.
