my 2 cents is we should do a +/- on the totals. so if you have a team over 8 wins and they win 11, you'd get +3 for that team, and vice versa if they don't live up to it. that way we could do tiers or free for all and there would be very little chance of a tie.

or incorporate units and have a each win above the total count for that unit and each loss below the total go against you. so if you like bears as your 3 unit team and they win 3 games more than their total you'd win 9 points for that team.

I think the most winning selections is the best way to grade this contest. That's what we're trying to do, pick winners. I think a tiebreaker could be the net "margin of victory". If you pick Dallas over 9.5 and they win 8, you're a plus 1.5. If you went over the total, you're a minus 1.5

I don't like the brackets / total wins. Based on the posted numbers, most people will be or should be on the Patriots to win more games than other teams in their pool. But based on picking the over / under, that wouldn't be the case at all.

initially, I was thinking along these lines, but then I thought somebody could actually go 1-4 and win this thing. He gets say +9 points on one team and then -.5 on 4 others and wins the contest with a +7. Somebody else can go 5-0 but only accumulates 2.5 points. I'm emphasizing extremes to make a point, but I think the emphasis of this contest should be to reward the person that gets the most bets right.

Units gets kind of confusing to track/project. And you have the whole issue of do you use "to win" on faves and "risk" on dogs. Cause if you use to win on faves and someone picks all high juice, they are essentially starting with a higher bankroll than someone who picks the dog side of some lines. If you risk X units on every play then you get into all this fractional shit. Obviously trackable but kind of confusing IMO.

For simplicity sake I'm leaning towards just laying out all the posted win totals, everyone picks 5 teams, sum of posted win total for your "team" cannot exceed 41. Most wins wins. This rewards the excess; if you pick the bears over and they win 10 games, that is a huge score for you. I understand what Willie is saying, but I like the idea of getting rewarded extra if your team overperforms to that extent. It also introduces some additional strategy, as the max score you can get from the patriots is +3.5 whereas your goldmines will come from the low total teams who severely overperform.

We could set up a playoff thing for a tiebreaker, if there are ties those people advance to the playoff tiebreaker.

that sounds like people can only pick overs, being right on unders won't be worth anything

yes that contest would be based on picking your favorite overs.

There are still lots of profitable things you can do with NE u12.5 Willie. You could bet it with your local, for example.

I'm not worried about that Harry, there is always somebody asking me to take some bet they want to make against the Patriots :)

Picking the Over/Under for all 32 teams might be interesting(1 pt. each).
