motive, if you're reading about an unsubstantiated allegation included within an obvious hit piece written by an obviously biased reporter, should you think about it just a tad?

does it make sense? what is their motive? what else did the author provide?

well lets see, what's being said in connection with this story:

And unsubstantiated accusations of cheating have long dogged the team, stemming from their Super Bowl wins in 2002, 2004 and 2005. The St. Louis Rams claimed the team illegally videotaped their walk-through practices prior to the 2002 game, and players on the other defeated opponents have said the Patriots seemed to have inside knowledge of their playbooks.

The Patriots were also accused of flouting the rules in the game before Sunday’s contest, in which they beat the Baltimore Ravens using unorthodox formations that Ravens Coach John Harbaugh said were designed to confuse the officials and his defense.

yep, haters going to hate

Biased reporter? It's being reported by every major news outlet. This isn't just one guy out to get the Patriots. Come on man, you know better.

Jesus fuckin christ do you think the Pats have to cheat the oversucked off Colts and Luck. Fuckin puhllease.
Last week it was improper substitutions so what does Belichick do school the loser watching on TV and substituted all day with eligible and ineligible receivers.

The stories are saying the deflated ball would help with grip and be easier to throw & catch.

Luck needed a deflated ball, clearly.

I love how Pats fans react to these reports...as if they've never cheated before

all citing the biased reporter

why is the NFL investigating it if it it just some nut job reporter. what is the motive???? NE runs the ball while the colts only can win by passing. both teams use the same balls. and, except for last week, every other accusation you listed have all been proven, hence the record setting fine against them. they cheat, is that really debatable????

actually, it would hurt the QB who throws all the time at one weight, then unknowingly is throwing a ball at a different weight for one game. i don't think it mattered, but it still is deception from a team who is habitual at cheating.

Of course NE deflated the balls - this is what they do - but I don't see how it could make any difference unless the Colts were using a different ball - would be great to hear that Brady got one ball and Luck got another ball with a marker on it

Every team supplies the ball they use and they never use the other teams ball so Luck and Brady didn't use the same ball

i believe home team provides the balls. if not, it's still cheating. the pats have set the bar so low for cheating, this seems trivial, but it is still cheating.

This story is so fucking stupid.

The Patriots are so good they make everyone else jealous!
Every patriot hater would just love Belichek & Brady to be on their favorite teams payroll.
I'm glad the Pats only have to face Wilson rather than a more healthy two week rested Aaron Rodgers.
If they can stop Lynch, a heavy order, NE will win decisively.

The home team does not supply the balls. As has been stated, each team brings its own. Luck and Brady used different balls the entire game - that why if this was to be proven it would be "cheating". I often root against the Patriots, because I find the some of their fans and the local reporters who cover the team to be extremely arrogant. That said, I think this is just sour grapes. Imo, when the Patriots got busted for "cheating", they weren't doing anything that other teams weren't doing. The difference is that Belichick was so blatant about it, they had to nail him & the organization. You can't tell me that each and every team in the NFL isn't looking for an edge. Belichick just seems to be a "genius" at it - and he has no problem rubbing it in other organization's faces which infuriates them. I don't like the guy, be he is brilliant.

The reporter Bob Kravitz didn't report the Pats did it. He reported the NFL was investigating it

Kinda his job, to report the news as it relates to the Colts

  1. The home club shall have 36 balls for outdoor games and 24 for indoor games available for testing with a pressure gauge by the referee two hours prior to the starting time of the game to meet with League requirements. Twelve (12) new footballs, sealed in a special box and shipped by the manufacturer, will be opened in the officials’ locker room two hours prior to the starting time of the game. These balls are to be specially marked with the letter "k" and used exclusively for the kicking game. http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/ball
---------------------------------
NFL VP of officiating Dean Blandino told NFL AM on Monday that, "it's not unheard of for a ball to be removed from circulation and then tested during the week for whatever issue there was."
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady dismissed the "ridiculous" reports during his Monday morning appearance on WEEI-FM.
"I think I've heard it all at this point," Brady laughed. "That's the last of my worries. I don't even respond to stuff like this."
When asked about the allegation during his Monday conference call, coach Bill Belichick said Monday morning was the first time he heard about the matter.

great point but like an mlb pitcher handed a scuffed baseball he knows what to do with it.. brady skilled enough to easily adjust to lighter ball, also assuming he knows its a deflated ball
