Seahawks cover!

The top two guys in the Supercontest like Seattle:

fkbjow.png

Marc Lawrence's Perfect System NFL Game of the Year is on Seattle:

NFL - 4* Game 271- Seahawks (+10) - NFL Perfect System GOY
Edges - Seahawks: 13-4 SU and 15-2 ATS in this series with a .500 or less record … Rams: 3-14 ATS as division favorites against avenging opponents, including 0-5 ATS when coming off a loss … We cement the call with these two systems from our Perfect System Club, as it tells us to: PLAY AGAINST any Game Eight or greater NFL home favorite off its first loss of the season of they scored more than 14 points in the loss. That's because these 'bubble burst' teams are 0-12 ATS in this role since 1988. In addition our Perfect System Club also notes that NFL division home favorites that have scored 99 or more points in their last three games combined, including 33 or more in their last game, who won 11 or more games last season are 0-12 ATS if they are facing a .500 or less opponent that allowed less than 28 points in its last game if the foe is not off a double-digit win … With Seahawks QB Russell Wilson 7-1 ATS in this NFL career ads a division dog, including 6-0 ATS away, we recommend a strong 4* play on Seattle. Thank you and good luck as always.

Brad Powers has Seattle as his Game of the Week.

Mendoza Line Newsletter Tracking (through 11/11/18)

Not every newsletter gets posted every week, and I'll try to note when the record doesn't include every week of the season.

Another note is that the grading is based on the line indicated in the newsletter at the time of publication, not the closing line. Many of these newsletters will claim a win against the best available line as it moves throughout the week, but these records reflect the outcome against the line they were willing to make a play on in their newsletter.

Rx Newsletter Play of the Week

After last Sundays UNDER loss on the Jaguars/Colts I am going with the Texans/Redskins UNDER 42 1/2 for this weeks play. I continue this week with Victor King's top newsletter play, a 3 star, from the current issue of the Totals Tipsheet. If you bet this, you might want to bet it early!

MEGALOCKS week 12, first released pick posted here each week. Record 8-1-2 so far, going for our 7th straight win. This game was not up earlier today at some books, I hesitated to post it but I didn't have time to research it. Not sure if it's due to the CA fires, or an injury or whatever. I'd look into it before wagering any big money on the game. Mega posted it around 4pm, the line has FALLEN.

The BIG GAME.
The Cardinal have won eight straight in this match-up but the Bears are a different animal right now and are bowl eligible after SHOCKING THE WORLD with a road win over USC last Saturday night. Two teams enter. Who will emerge with the win?
The Details
Stanford -2.5 California (45)

The Match-Up:
Stanford offense vs California defense
Yes, guy.
Stanford finally has a healthy Bryce Love in the backfield and that will make the excellent Cal defense (#1 PAC 12 YPP allowed) respect the pass AND the run. Speaking of the pass, QB KJ Costello continues to impress and is #1 (!!) in the PAC 12 in passing efficiency and has completed 67% of his passes with a decent 23-10 TD to INT ratio. Costello has also been working recently without all-UNIVERSE WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside who is still 2nd in the FBS with 11 receiving TDs (listed as Q on the injury report this week). The good news is that the TE combo is devastating and Colby Parkinson had four (!) TDs vs Oregon St. Our primary concern on offense is a banged up offensive line. The good news? They should not have to score too many points to beat Cal (more on that below) and Bryce Love is the healthiest he has been since the beginning of the season. Any attempts to “model” the Stanford rushing attack need to take that into consideration. Cal’s defense has been rock solid all season and will make Stanford earn every point that they get. The Golden Bears have the #16 ranked defense in the FBS despite playing in the kooky and crazy PAC 12.
California offense vs Stanford defense
It’s been a struggle but the Golden Bears have managed to do enough to bag six wins. They are dead last (!) in the PAC 12 in total offense and haven’t cracked the 300-yard barrier in any of their past three games (242,291,207). The good news is that the QB situation is “settled” and they are finally not barfing all over themselves with turnovers. RB Patrick Laird is a beast and on the all-MEGALOCKS team BUT is still only averaging 4.3 yards per carry despite being tougher than a $3 steak. The Golden Bears are only averaging 9.7 yards per reception as a team and are going to have to find a way (as always) to take advantage of any scoring opportunities they can find. The Stanford D is a sub-par unit by their standards (#10 PAC 12 YPP allowed) and will have to rise to the occasion against a horrible offense. <grabs popcorn>
Trends, Intangibles and More!
As noted earlier Stanford has bagged eight consecutive wins over the Golden Bears…….Stanford was 27-12 in road games under HC David Shaw heading into this season and are 2-2 this season with losses coming to undefeated ND and Washington (lost by 4; outgained the Huskies 424-371).
Summary
This feels like a bad spot for the Golden Bears. They are coming off a massive upset over USC which marked the first time in approximately 109 years that they beat the Trojans. Cal also achieved their first goal of becoming bowl eligible which is a big deal in year two of the Justin Wilcox regime. Pop the champagne, yo. Potential issue? That makes three straight MEAT GRINDERS (Washington, Washington St, USC) and Stanford is coming off a win over a tomato can with a healthy Bryce Love. Fun fact. Cal hasn’t scored more than 17 (!!!) points vs anyone other than Oregon St since September. Yup. Stanford should find a way in this one.
Conclusion
Official play: Stanford -2.5 -107
