Ohio at Western Michigan – College Football Predictions
The Game
MACtion, baby!
The best conference in sports will treat us to a spectacle on Thursday night as Ohio visits Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan. Ohio is playing really well right now but are still a game behind the JUGGERNAUT Buffalo Bulls in the competitive MAC East. Western Michigan is a game back of Northern Illinois in the West and also need this game badly.
The Details
Ohio -1 Western Michigan (66.5)

(Note: line moved to -1.5 subsequent to us sending out the pick)
MEGALOCKS LINE – Ohio -3
“Vegas” Implied Projected Score: Ohio 33.75 Western Michigan 32.75

The Match-Up:
Ohio offense vs Western Michigan defense
Yes, guy.
QB Nathan Rourke is on the ALL MEGALOCKS SQUAD and he is really starting to heat up as the Bobcats move along this season. Rourke has a 14-5 TD to INT ratio (9.4 yards per attempt) and has rushed for over 500 yards and 6 TDs. In fact, Ohio has THREE players with more than 500 yards rushing this season if you include the dynamic RB duo of AJ Ouellette (12th year senior) and Maleek Irons. WR Papi White is one of the best in the MAC. Western Michigan is ranked #8 in the MAC in yards per play D and #8 in yards per carry allowed rushing (4.69). If the weather is as dreary as the forecast suggests (cold, a bit wet) we forecast a massive game for Ohio on the ground.
Western Michigan offense vs Ohio defense
The Broncos suffered a huge loss when it was determined that starting QB Jon Wassink would be on the shelf due to injury (1,994, 16-6 TD to INT, 6 RUSH TD). Freshman back-up Kaleb Eleby was really good in relief last week but he is a pocket passer and does not provide the QB run element. Ohio will also have some tape to look at and should be able to find a way to get Eleby to make mistakes and take more sacks (5 last week vs Toledo). We have to be honest. Ohio’s defense is pretty rotten so they will need to do what they do on offense and get more stops than the Broncos.
Trends, Intangibles and More!
Western Michigan is 19-5 SU vs the Bobcats since 1982 per the awesome Phil Steele mag….Watch for the hidden yardage in this game as Ohio is #17 in net punting and the Broncos are #120.
Summary
Ohio is the #1 rushing team in the MAC (233, 5.54) and they should be able to lay waste to the Broncos SOFT UNDERBELLY. We get the better QB, better run game and better coach. The Broncos have the better defense overall and the benefit of 8,000-12,000 fans sitting in the cold and/or rain. The Bobcats are rolling (albeit vs sketchy competition) and appear to be peaking at just the right time.
Conclusion
Official play: Ohio -1 -108
