MEGALOCKS week #9. First released pick posted here each week. Record so far, 5-1-2!!!

Wisconsin at Northwestern – College Football Predictions
The Game
Here we go!
There are four teams in the Big Ten West with one conference loss and two of them do battle in Evanston on Saturday when the Badgers visit the Wildcats. The Cats have escaped with their lives the past two weeks vs Nebraska and Rutgers. The Badgers have won two of their past three games with the only misstep being a road beating at the hands of Michigan. Who rises to the top in this one?
The Details
Wisconsin -7 Northwestern (51)
MEGALOCKS LINE – Wisconsin -3.5
“Vegas” Implied Projected Score: Wisconsin 29 Northwestern 22

The Match-Up:
Wisconsin offense vs Northwestern defense
It comes down to this. Can Northwestern slow down the JUGGERNAUT rushing attack? Jonathan Taylor is amazing (1,109, 8 TD) and Taiwan Deal is averaging 6.8 YPC. The offensive line is doing fine work once again and the Cats might be in for a long day if they can’t force some 3rd and long situations. The good news for Northwestern is that they have done a decent job vs the run this season (#6 rush defense Big 10) and held their own for most of the game vs the Wolverines. Badgers’ QB Alex Hornibrook is getting too much of the blame for the somewhat disappointing start to the campaign as he has an “ok” 11-6 TD to INT ratio whilst averaging 8 yards per attempt. YES, he struggled mightily vs Michigan, BUT that was MICHIGAN. Hello? Having said that, the Badgers are not exactly loaded in terms of passing game weapons so they are going to need a solid run game and at least a “B+” effort from their QB to win this one. The Cats are #4 in the Big Ten in 3rd down conversion defense.
Northwestern offense vs Wisconsin defense
This should be fun. Northwestern can really throw the football around under QB Clayton Thorson (sometimes to the wrong team) and are going to provide a mighty challenge for the Badgers’ defense. The Cats also found a RB last week as Isaiah Bowser rushed for over 100 yards vs Rutgers. Northwestern escaped with their lives but keep in mind that the weather was an impediment in terms of MATRICULATING the ball down the field in the passing game. We harp on this almost every week, but the big problem with Wisconsin this season in with their DEFENSE and not the QB. They are ranked #13 in the Big Ten in yards-per-play defense (Nebraska is ahead of them) and they are allowing over 5 yards per carry whilst getting no PENETRATION (T11 sacks/game Big Ten). Keep in mind that last year the Badgers tallied 42 sacks and were NUMBER ONE in the conference in yards per play defense. Northwestern is going to move the ball and score some points.
Trends, Intangibles and More!
The home team is 9-2 SU in the last 11 meetings……Keep an eye on the forecast for Saturday….There may be some rain/wind….Our WEATHER INSIDERS will keep on top of things.
Summary
It’s hard to look at this game and say that Wisconsin has the BIG edge ANYWHERE. If the game was a pick ’em we would pass on the game BUT catching a TD in this spot seems like a good play. The Cats just LOVE to play down to the competition and rise up to the challenge when you least expect it. The SECRET SAUCE in this handicap is that Northwestern just might be the better team right now.
Conclusion
Official play: Northwestern +7 -106
