Does Phil Steele even check what he puts out anymore every week I see teams with the wrong records in his newsletters. Its probably AI just putting out whatever now and he doesn't even look. Example this week Utep is not 3-4 they are 2-5. Last week I am pretty sure I found 3 teams with the wrong record.

Newsletter Tracking (through 10/16/2023)

The records here will reflect the lines listed in the newsletters at the time the plays were published. This is for the rated plays, the high-ranking plays, and any type of play worth tracking. There’s no reason to keep track of every bottom-tier or “recommended” play; it’s not worth the work.

Sometimes the newsletters will cheat a little by claiming a different common or later line if it turns a loss into a push or otherwise boosts their record. I’ll usually be able to note what happened to explain the discrepancy.

I’ll also highlight particularly good or bad weekends or short-term runs. I will not include picks from newsletter issues that we don’t get in time.

Some of these will be great follows, some will be great fades, but some won’t show a significant pattern either way.

This week I'll start color-coding the especially hot and cold newsletter plays. Rough week for most of the newsletters.

Yeah, they all get sloppy at times.
Some moreso than others (*cough* Northcoast *cough*).
This week Playbook (usually good about that stuff) has UCLA in black ink underlined, but it's clear after reading the write-up that it should be Stanford.

Yep, Lawrence might be the culprit here and we all make mistakes. Or maybe it's one of his staffers or interns, people who MIGHT not be there normally, but because us businessowners out there have to hire what is available, and most times it's not much, you have to put up with sub par work, as 30% of the work force has mysteriously disappeared. So your expectation level should be knocked down a bit and your patience level increased with those who are out working, most of us shorthanded and plain tired and getting burned out.
