If everyone would stay home for just a few weeks maybe it would disappear.

But we are stubborn and as always think we know everything and won't listen

Why do you think all counties should be treated equally?

In Canada i expect that's what the very great vast majority of people will continue doing, as they have been doing for weeks already (except for "essentials" like food, medicine, etc)?

Nonessential businesses remain closed, though there are plans in some places to begin allowing - some - to reopen in a very safe manner beginning in early May. Other provinces may take longer to start the ball rolling.

Personally i have no intentions of visiting non essential businesses even after they open, at least potentially crowded places like theaters, restaurants, hockey arenas. Though I expect places like shopping malls in Canada will be relatively empty even after they reopen for business for some time, that is relative to pre C-19 times.

I was applying it OVER 327 million people

Yeah but

1. The antibody rates going to be way lower than NY, probably from anywhere from 1-5% elsewhere.

2. The death rates should be lower throughout the country as the at risk population quarantines/social distancing/masks/etc

Can't really just take the NY study and extrapolate it like that

But if .8% of people that get it are dying there, the rate elsewhere isn't gonna be .002%. It'll be lower but still much higher than flu. And we don't drastically change behavior with the flu, we just let it run through the population so isn't really comparing apples to apples.

CA was 3-6% in their study.

I saw this stat somewhere, and don't know if it is true - 10K people in nursing homes have died from COVID. That would be 20% of the deaths.

Its either way deadlier or way more contagious.

The flu doesnt kill 55K+ in a month.

Corona virus presently does

Yeah, if CA is 3-6%, a lot of places going to be 1%.

IFR is a good metric to get a ballpark gauge of how deadly the disease is but obviously it depends who is getting it and who isn't to produce the final number.

In other states, they should be able to keep the at risk population infection rates a lot lower than NY. But you can't ignore 25-30k dead off 3M infections either. That's what it can do if allowed to run through a population. That isn't the flu.

I like to hold Fake news to the numbers to make up - yesterday, Fake News said their findings show 14% of NYC are testing positive for antibodies

Way more contagious - if you get Covid or u get the flu - u don't have a higher rate of dying

Approximately 3m in NY got it and 30k are going to die (keep in mind, deaths lag infections)

Sounds more deadly than the flu to me by a significant amount

We covered this yesterday, I don’t see what is interesting about the antibody report. It is around what everyone expected for NY.

Yeah. Okay the death rate is lower than reported. Every time a new article comes out they jump onto it like “SEE!”

We already know that if you get it and are healthy you won’t die. We know this. Still a lot of people in this country are not healthy. And we’re close to 60K deaths.

Staying in will not make it go away, it will still be here and once everyone is out and about it people will be exposed

That is what you guys do not understand , staying in just prolongs this by not exposing people to it

Never met so many ignorant people

The way they are counting Covid deaths is totally disingenuous.

They are counting anyone they think may have had it, they are counting suicides, etc

The number of deaths due to Covid are bogus

1) If everyone in Canada stayed indoors for a year, how many people would have C-19 infections after 365 days?

2) After 365 days if those same people went back to work, how many would become infected after one month?

I suppose people who write books, authors, could still be working at their job during a 1,2,3 month or 365 day incarceration at home. Others also.

But, getting back to the question, supposing everyone had 1,2, or 3 months of rations to survive that long indoors:

1) how many would be C-19 infected after 1,2 or 3 months of everyone simultaneously staying indoors &

2) how many of those would be infected after they came outside to play, work or whatever, after an additional month.

Is the correct answer to both questions: probably very few or none?

Is the wrong answer: "Staying in will not make it go away,"?

Yeah, it's more deadly - before this whole thing I didn't even know people died from the flu - I've had flu numerous times and not once did death cross my mind - if I tested positive for Corona I could feel fine but impending death might be my only thought

I'm getting an antibody test done next week - I haven't had blood work done in several years so figured this is probably a good time to get a CBC and lipid profile - so for $160 I threw the Covid in too

President Trump says his comments on injecting disinfectant into patients to treat coronavirus were 'sarcastic.'

I'd guess (and hope) in states that aren't NY that we'll see fatality rates around .5 to .7 so like 1/2 of NY hopefully. Obviously lower with effective treatment if that can hit sooner than later.
