recently had a son who is just over a month old now. when we went to the 12 week appointment they did a test for down syndrome and other health concerns. the dr said if the baby had down syndrome we could abort up to 20 weeks. couldnt believe it. you could abort simply because of down syndrome. we explained that wouldnt be an issue and were keeping the baby regardless but i asked if that was a popular reason to abort and the dr indicated it sways the vote for many people.

Because they know that person will have a horrific life with down syndrome.

I'm not giving my opinion either way because its impossible to judge unless you are in the situation

Thats great that you would decide to keep it if it tasted positive for a genetic disease but you shouldnt be so quick to pass judgment

I did not do the genetic testing with either of my children. We didn't want to know if there was a possible issue. I'm thankful every day my babies are healthy.

Watch the movie "Gosnell" if you want to see a movie about late term abortions that is horrifying.Having an abortion the first three months compared to after six months is two different events.

i dont think you have any experience with people with down syndrome based on that statement. it may be more challenging but to say its a horrific life is just ridiculous

You're missing the point. I just dont agree with the rush to judgement. I offered no opinion on whether or not I would make the same choice. As I said, I chose to not even do genetic testing with either child.

its not a rush to judgment at all. i have experience with people with down syndrome, i get the impression you dont. if you abort a child for the single reason that they have down syndrome your a peice of shit. that being said im against all abortions so this scenario would be no different. people in america get pissed off when a dentist kills a lion but could care less about a person until they are out of the womb. its sickening to me.
