SJ,
I was addressing your idiotic statement

quote:
Then please explain to me why New York state has consistently lost population and business over the past 35 years?

Now, of course, if we lost seats we aren't growing as fast, BUT ...

and a BIG but here ...

I was discussing NYC, no? NYC has grown quite well, but the rest of the state, particually upstate cities like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, have suffered the same the other cities in the "rust belt" throughout the NE. In other words as the industrial age has faded, so have the jobs in the industrial sector - also, coincidentally, partially sabotaged by Bush senior and his assinine NAFTA deal.

Either way, you still got it wrong pal. Next time, be an adult, and just admit it - 0 for 1 is better than the 0 for 2 hole that you're digging.

Lander, thanks again for displaying your smug, arrogant, I'm smarter than you type attitude. Smart people vote Democrats, and dumb people vote Republican. Is that the gist of your argument?

I guess for the record I should introduce into evidence the old saying, If you're young and vote conservative you have no heart, if your old and vote liberal you have no brain.

What a freaking joke this post is. People vote for the party that benefits them the most.

If you took it in context you'd obviously undertand it was a joke between my REPUBLICAN friend and I.

You're right - I have no heart. Emotion is for cowards. I prefer logic and reasoning - it results in free thinking.

Maybe you should ask raise your hand next time so you don't interupt the adults

btw - The best potential candidate in the last election was John McCain IMHO, so I bet the destroys yet another one of your sterotypical partisian theories for the basis of my argument.

Same song, different neo-con.

"Well, children will be children."

Well, little dickheads will be little dickheads.

"I'm sure you have some money to gamble away"

Thats about as inaccurate and baseless as everything else you say. You just offer up some crap that passes as an opinion for you. No surprise there.

And, yet, you just said, "Well, little dickheads will be little dickheads."

Either you have to start acting like the bigger man or you'll just come across as a hypocrite. And, frankly, there's nothing lower than a self-evident hypocrite because more or less we're all searching for two things in life - truth and hapiness. How can you have truth when you can't even abide by your own beliefs?

Myself, on the other hand, am a self-admitted asshole. I don't consider it a flaw, because, well, I simply don't care what others perceive me as.

Linkage:

Interesting how it has gone from possible to probable. Huge change in meaning in those two words, for you scholars.

Whatever you say. Your writing is both pointless and incomprehensible.

"Myself, on the other hand, am a self-admitted asshole."

Good. Then we're in agreement.

"I don't consider it a flaw."

You're wrong on that one, its a pretty big flaw, and very noticeable I might add.

By the way, I had absolutely no doubt you would have to try to get the last word in. It fits your persona and maturity level perfectly. Now I've sunk to your level.

I agree it may very well appear incomprehensible to those that are incompetent of understanding a simple logical deduction, however your incompetence doesn't make it incorrect - it simply means that it's too difficult for you to grasp.

Good. Then we're in agreement.

Indeed.

"I don't consider it a flaw."

Of course you would think that - you're a simple person. I'll tell you why it's a flaw. To reititerate there are exactly two things that we strive for in life - truth and happiness. Hapiness can be catagorized into petty things like hobbies, past-times, etc .. , but I'm referring to a more abstract happiness - feast, family and freedom. Those are instrinsic values to our nature.

The second bit is what I call truth. It's knowing 'why' and 'how' everything is what it is. And endless discovery that is not comprimised at the popular idea of saying "because of God", "because I read", etc ... We have certain truths to build upon - logic and math. From which we can derive theories and offer proof for such. But, do really understand truth you must break down the walls that have been built around you. It's not easy and probably collides a bit with our instincts to build a "comfort zome" around our lives - a bubble if you will. The bubble that I see cast around so many of my fellow countrymen, because it's better not to see suffering and feel guilt. It's similiar to when you learned that Santa Claus didn't exist or when you finally realized that your favorite player most likely didn't give a damn about you. It's painful, right? Sure it is.

Anyway, that gets us back to the point about being an asshole. It doesn't mean that you are necessarily a bad person - in fact, I help the less fortunate quite often, but that's not the point. What it means is that you don't take what you're told as fact and you don't do stuff out of respect. See, when you do this you are making assumptions, and when you make assumptions you aren't experiencing truth. Now, if you're not an asshole, you're going to cower into agreement and comprimise the truth. That's really just a symbol of weakness and the result is that you live a lie - and for me a life lived as a lie isn't worth living because you're not actually alive .. you're just a puppet with living cells.

Understand? I am what I am because it requires me make my own decision each and everytime.

By the way, I had absolutely no doubt you would have to try to get the last word in. It fits your persona and maturity level perfectly. Now I've sunk to your level.
It's a posting forum. There are no last words, only last posts. You are free to extend the debate as far as you can, or for that matter, as long as you wish. It has little to do with maturity, it's just the nature of the posting forum.

Don't kid yourself, you're not that smart. The problem with your writing is not the depth, but rather the relevance to the topic at hand. Usuaully there is none.

"Of course you would think that - you're a simple person."

There's that arrogance again we've all grown so fond of. Can you even see me from that high up on your perch?

Being an asshole has nothing to do with truth and skepticism. It has to do with a lack of basic social skills, and a lack of even a modicum of respect for fellow human beings. Being a free thinker doesnt make you an asshole, its the condescending langauage and tone you use with people that don't agree with you that makes you an asshole.

I won't address the rest of the crap your spewing

How inciteful

I take the time to address your misconceptions, and instead of retorting it you, instead, pass it off "irrelevant".

I guess I shouldn't have expected much more; this is akin to a professor trying to teach kindergarten. I have neither the will nor the patience for you.

" take the time to address your misconceptions."

Nice, you gave up 5 minutes of jerking off over yourself about how smart you are. A true sacrifice.

"and instead of retorting it you, instead, pass it off "irrelevant"."

Sorry, I really tried finding some connection to anything that was discusses beforehand, I really did. There just wasn't any other way to characterize it your delusional rambling.

"I guess I shouldn't have expected much more; this is akin to a professor trying to teach kindergarten."

You call what you post trying to teach? That truly is the funniest thing I've heard all day. I appreciate the humor after a long day at work.
