laws vary state to state concerning identifying yourself to police when asked.
basically a cop can walk up to anyone and start a conversation just like any human being can. how that person reacts may give the cop reason to be suspicious and depending on what state you are in and you may be in violation of law by not identifying yourself, in some states you can just say your name, in others you have to show your papers.
bottom line if you do anything to make the cop think that his life or someone else is in danger they will shoot you, not to wound you, but to kill you. a cop can't go to court and say that he thought his life was in danger that is why he shot you in the leg one time, he needs to be able to say yes to the following question: "is the reason you shot the deceased 6 times in the chest because you were in fear of your life?"
someone should do a study on the people who have been killed by cops for not following instructions (both black and white) and see if they were raised in homes without a father figure. it seems most of these people have issues with authority. it's almost like they grew up not knowing what it is like having a man tell them what to do so they freak out when a male cop gives them instructions
Where do you see more cops patrolling, in the projects/black neighborhoods or suburbia?
You know the answer to that......I'm assuming that if we had cop cars parked down the block in suburbia, & cruising around the block every hour, we would be very anxious, pissed, etc......the preconce notion that black people in the hood are up up to no good when hanging out on the corner, & maybe there's some truth to that? I mean, we are brainwashed into thinking that way from most movies we watch.
Reality is, the hood & suburbia are 2 totally different worlds.......& a black man sees the police as their enemy......many are taught to avoid the cops, many are taught to reflect the cops, but unless you're born black in this world, you will.never know what's it like.......everyone should follow direction when.the cops yells out, no matter what color.
Cops no matter what color have a preconceived notion that most black youth are up to trouble when hanging out in the hood, & yes, there's a lot of crime being committed in the hood, black on black crime, & when the cop shows up, he has to deal with the stress of doing g the right thing & hoping he won't have to shoot anyone, & hoping he/she don't get shot.
Why on earth would anyone want to be a cop now a days is beyond me........
