Neteller to stop processing transactions?

The whole thread @ 2+2 was very confusing and lacking of clear facts.

It appears they are only talking about USD bank wires (not EFT) to foreign USD bank accounts; and it also appears they may be overstating the issue -- I would presume that NETELLER itself is having banking problems with its USD-account banks, not that any government agency is "holding" wire transfers. (And they failed to define what hold means, could just be banking-related delays)

They offered to send wires in GBP or EUR to non-US USD accounts, but the customer must pay the exchange fees. IMHO if they are having banking problems, they ought to shut up and pay the fees themselves, work through *their* problems.

The one response that pushes all blaims to "US" is ridiculous. "US" what? Sounds like they have very unprofessional customer service.

:WTF:

yes, it appeared to me (based on what the original poster said ) that this is strictly bank wires being sent in USD to accounts not based in the US

someone mentioned that bank wire is not an option for a USA based neteller account (which I dont know because I dont have access to one)

at this point it would be more likely (to me anyway) that major banks take it upon themselves to act conservatively with what is the biggest processor of payments for egaming companies, I doubt there is any goverment policy in place (or even being close a 'final' stage)

solution at this point for customers that insist on getting bank wires

a) set up accounts in EUR or GBP and pay the exchange rate fee only once (as opposed to getting a wire sent in EUR after getting the USD and converting them and them paying again at the receiving bank to get them back into USD)

b) get checks or any other way of withdrawal

The long-term answer to USD payments (for anyone) is for them to use a bank within each country that allows USD accounts, and use whatever the domestic banking transfer system is in that country -- which is faster and cheaper anyway.

For example, I transfer from a USD BAC San Jose account to a USD Banco Nacional account, this does not use any U.S.-based clearing system, costs $1 and takes 5 minutes to clear.

The pitfall of this is potentially falling under that nations own jurisdictions with regards money transfers, taxes and gambling laws.

Or everyone should switch to EURos. I've been wondering if Party Poker and all the other US-banned poker rooms will switch to Pounds or Euros instead of dollars. Given the a weak dollar, I can't imagine too many would complain, esp European customers that keep large bankrolls; will stop losing money to US dollar inflation.
