I heard from a Friend who is an IT guy, and he told I should get Vista :think2:

Also something about when they come out with Windows 7, it will be easier to Upgrade from Vista.

So now I'm going to have to think about this for an extra couple of days.
Really wanted to buy the Laptop tomorrow, but I guess I can wait.

Yes, it will most likely be easier to upgrade to 7 if you want to save your settings and installed programs.

Vista runs just as smoothly as XP anyway, as long as you have modern computer.

I guess it would be Modern, since I'm buying a New Laptop.

Since I don't see many with a Pentium Processor, What's the Better Processor out there ?

I see AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core, Oh, I just found a Pentium Processor which also says Dual-Core, also an Intel Core 2 Dual....

There's quite a bit of difference between processors. Some are much more powerful, but If you don't play games, it really shouldn't matter too much in desktop and application use. For non-gaming activities, those cheaper laptops are better value for money.

whatever you do DO NOT .........DO NOT get a celeron (its a type of intel cpu.........if its a celeron it will say it right there in the description of the laptop)

its a cheapo version of whatever intel's mainline processor is at the time, sometimes TOO cheapo, many users will do just fine with such a processor but you get a much much better performance if you just go with the duocore (difference between core 2 duo and core duo is very small so it wont matter)

if you are going to use it for email/browsing exclusively then 'anything' works but again, I suggest skipping the celerons in case you eventually want to do something else with the computer

in terms of performance/price intel is (right now) ahead of amd

Thanks Wolfie, Your Info is Bar None !
As I Only use it for Surfing, and loading some pictures. I'll still stay away from Celerons.
I Don't download any Music or Videos, maybe just a file or two of MS Word
so it's not that I need much......But like you said, You never know.

wolfie is dead on to stay away Celeron processors, they are junk.

I recently bought a PC with a AMD Quad Core and have to say I have no issues with it and it's about half the price of the Intel Quad Core so was able to get a little more bang for the buck by going with AMD over Intel.

Oh and any free 90 day programs on your computer should be torched from your hard drive as soon as you know you dont want them.

The microsoft 90 day look at their office package is especially annoying.

Letters and drafts, emails and other important documents are erased from your computer if you dont buy the office package.

Someone please do a big lawsuit against MS.

.

absolutely agree, probably the most annoying AND wasteful thing in the laptops.......

a) best case scenario you have to spend time to remove them

b) worse case.....they may be burried deep into the machine and you spend time and money figuring out why 'its slow' and it turns out to be some of these useless pieces of @#$@$# that they install into a brand new computer
