Steve McGarrett, THANKS for the info

The Funk Monkey,
quote:
Are you American? Are you male?

Just wondering. There are certain things American males should know. How to change a flat tire, how to shave, when to wear a tie, how to unhook a bra, etc. You should also know that Nevada is the only state that allows legal betting on all major sports.

It's because of ANAL apes such as yourself I haven't registered before. Calm down. I don't play full time. Peace dude

Maybe I assumed too much. I honestly thought your average American male (regardless of gambling knowledge) knew that AC didn't have sportsbooks. Plus, the mere fact that you're posting on this board indicates that you probably know a decent amount about the gambling world.

The reason I specify "American male" is because I certainly wouldn't expect somebody from Belgium to know whether or not AC has sportsbooks.

But as I said, if you grew as an American male, there are certain things you'd probably learn over the years. You'd know that David Hasselhoff was in Knight Rider, you'd be able to name at least one Bruce Willis movie that wasn't Die Hard 1/2/3, you'd be able to name at least two bands from the Seattle grunge scene, and you'd know that AC didn't have sportsbooks.

But I'll admit, it is interesting how the myth of AC sportsbooks continues to exist. When your friends go to Vegas for March Madness, they come back with stories of their wagers. How they took UTEP +7, how they spent all day drinking beer @ the sportsbook. But when people go to AC, do they ever tell stories of the sportsbooks? Of course not...cause there aren't any sportsbooks in AC! But amazingly, despite the lack of stories, the AC-sportsbook myth continues to thrive.

Does Nirvana count for a Seattle grundge band? If it does, then I know of one. You can trust me when I say I am an American male, just old.

LOL - I can name a dozen Willis movies not counting Die Hard but I am a movie buff. I have no clue about grundge music. I have however seen Janis Joplin, The Moody Blues (way back), Jimi Hendix, Cream, The Steve Miller Band, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and many others at live concerts.

See what I mean about clueless. I have heard of Phish but have never seen them perform. I go way back with Dylan. I have also seen The Band, Stevie Winwood (Yardbirds), never the Stones or Beatles though.

Obviously, my "quiz" is somewhat biased towards my generation. But you can change the questions as needed, in order to make them fair for boys and girls of all ages!

For example, I don't expect Wil to know much about the Seattle grudge scene. But I'd seriously have to wonder if Wil didn't know some of the artists he mentioned. If you met somebody who was in their 20s during the 60s and 70s, wouldn't you be shocked if they didn't know who Hendrix was?

Dunno, I'm sometimes a "snob" when it comes to pop-culture, politics, current events, etc. Several months ago, I was telling somebody a story about Howard Dean. FYI, this was several weeks after his "screaming" speech. They didn't know who Howard Dean was. In fact, they couldn't name any of the Democratic candidates. I just couldn't understand how they could be so clueless.

Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe Lander's voting plan (requiring people to take a political aptitude test) isn't such a bad idea!

Wil, you got Nirvana right. The other "easy" answer would've been Pearl Jam. Others include:

Alice In Chains
Soundgarden
Screaming Trees
Mudhoney

Whether or not you like the grunge scene, you have to give it credit for single-handedly destroying pop music. It was cool to turn on the radio and hear songs that weren't recorded simply to be played on the radio. Unfortunately, pop music came back, stronger than ever before!

Your right Pearl Jam I have heard of. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and thats it. Believe it or not I was once a big Donavan fan. Does that ring a bell?

Some popular Bruce Willis flicks. I think only asking for one movie was more than generous. I didn't know they're gonna make Die Hard 4!

FYI, I left Hudson Hawk on the list as a joke. I think lots of people remember Bruce Willis was in Hudson Hawk just because the movie was so bad! Kinda like Stallone and...well, take your pick.
