Solano has suffered a hand injury and will miss the remainder of fall camp. Surgery is needed, and the hope is that he will return in time for Mountain West conference play.

It's Solano's job unless he: (a) goes out of his way to lose it, which I don't believe he will do, or (b) a younger player goes crazy in spring and fall camp and shows he's clearly better than Solano, which is tough to do given how few snaps everybody gets with multiple people competing for the starting job.


The other competitors for the job are Carson Strong, Griffin Dahn and Malik Henry. Strong is probably the strongest competition, but he's also a redshirt freshman, so it'd be a sizable risk to start him over Solano, a senior, at the start of the season. Henry is a junior-college walk-on with a complicated backstory who Nevada wants to make earn his dues; and Dahn was behind Solano on the depth chart last season, so it'd unlikely he jumps over him in practice this spring and fall.

Auburn WR Anthony Schwartz has injured his hand in a training camp practice, and is currently being evaluated to decide whether he needs surgery, his mother Jill Schwartz told AL.com.
“He’s going to the doctor right now, so he’s supposed to text me as soon as he knows anything,” Jill said. “And the doctor is supposed to call me right now.”
Jill said that as of early Monday morning, no surgery had been scheduled. She doesn’t know the specificity of the injury, or if it will keep him out of any games.
“I should know everything by this afternoon,” Jill Schwartz said.

Schwartz underwent a surgical procedure Monday afternoon to repair the hand. He is expected to miss at least three weeks of workouts, but could potentially sit out longer, a source said.

NC State lost starting safety Tim Kidd-Glass to the transfer portal last night.

In his first three seasons with the Wolfpack, Kidd-Glass has played in 33 games, starting in nine games during his sophomore season and playing in all 13 last year in a rotation with Dexter Wright. With Kidd-Glass now out of the picture, the player likely taking over the role as starter will be Tanner Ingle.
The decision is a somewhat surprising one for the Wolfpack, especially given the fact that Kidd-Glass had a chance to either maintain his role in a rotation or take over the starting spot. But with Ingle pushing him and a lot of young talent on the roster, there was a chance Kidd-Glass could end up further down the depth chart -- even as a senior.

West Virginia lost a bunch of ...only 9 return starters with New Coach ....

West Virginia must replace 91.65 percent of its passing yardage, 74.38 percent of its receiving yardage, and 45.63 percent of its tackles from the 2019 roster. Many of the players who will be called upon to make up for that lost production have yet to suit up for the Mountaineers.
