As ridiculous as it sounds, this is a brilliant move by the NBA. Esports, yes that’s a no actual thing, is blowing up. Revenue of 800M globally and expected to double in less than 24 months. The growth is outlandish compared to the entertainment industry as a whole. I believe there were over 11 billion esports videos streamed in 2017, with the majority coming from China and Japan, and that figure is expected to rise significantly as North America figures explode. People even pay for this, online or to go to live events. I believe Staples sold out an event recently and sold out events are common in Asia.
This is why Amazon paid over a billion for Twitch, Facebook, Google and others are introducing esports platforms, Sky is close to a huge deal on an esports platform and Vegas has two arenas dedicated to esports set to open soon.
As absurd as this all sounds, it’s the truth.
^ this has nothing to do with nba2k. Its league of legends which is a esport nerd game lol.
did you just pick a random pic on the internet and think it was nba2k league? Lmao
Whats odd about it? People are playing videos game competively and for $$$ instead for fun. Its a great thing
Not at all. I saw some photos of the pimple faced kids that got drafted today. This picture is a good representative of the kinds of guys on state today haha.
hey you can hate on them if you want... I give them props, those kids just made a lot of money playing nba2k by getting drafted with a chance to make hundred of thousands if they go far in the league.
Well, to be fair, their salary is 35K which is fine for playing video games but if that's their income, uh, that's not a lot of money.
But more interesting to me is the hundreds of thousands of dollars comment? How is that? What do you mean go far in the league? I don't know shit about this hence why I'm trying to understand.
35k for 6mo is decent for these kids...over 5k a month to be put in a paid for, brand new penthouse with your teammates sounds pretty good to me.
This season will feature a $1 million dollar prize pool that will be spread out over the season and playoffs. The NBA 2K League will have a similar format to professional sports leagues. There will be head-to-head regular season matchups and a bracketed playoff system that will lead up to a championship matchup. In addition, there will also be some in-season tournaments.

It’s just like a regular league they will draft and cut players every year
