the citation of the Heat rolling white guys out as a reason people aren't tuning doesn't have much to do with politics is indeed very laughable

where could someone get this stuff

The idiot has 2 false beliefs going

1. I still dont buy it that "politics are social justice" are the MAIN reason why there are lower ratings.

Yes when you pretty much tell half+ the country off the bat ..FU then that is going to be a problem

2. His comments about white guys on the Heat shows he still doesnt understand that BLM is NOT a black vs white issue.
It is about Marxism/Socialism/Communism vs a Democracy, this has almost NOTHING to do with social justice for black people.

says the person who thinks there is nothing wrong about drooling over pics of high school girls

trash..pure trash

even funnier is you think that this has something to do with the amount of white guys on a roster (wtf?)

and that being on ABC, free tv, makes this less significant? talking lowest in 40 years and you don't need cable or streaming package to watch. only competition on a friday night was padres/cards wild card game...and nobody watched the supposed biggest star playing for the league's most important team

Nah,

Just remarking how the HEAT have 5 players who are white.

You're a hockey fan. Why were their ratings down? They're all white guys??

Yes ABC is free tv but when you have hulu live or youtube tv, etc, then Nielson does NOT count those as ratings.

You have 1 of those boxes. If u watch the game, then it doesnt count.

Let me ask you this. When has rating been UP for ANYTHING in the past 6-12 months?

Even though ratings are down, NBA is still TOP rated show of the night (other than SNF)

I GUARANTEE that game 4 tonight will be the HIGHEST rated show tonight.

Running the finals (or stanley cup) in early October during the thick of football season was always going to cause a ratings decline, having it say "Love us" or "Say Their Names) is only going to exacerbate that (most guys just seems like it says the apolitical "vote" now and that is the main message pushed from what I've seen)

There is your summation, why is this issue so fascinating to people?

Like I said, they're just gonna import more viewers anyway. They're good...

Import more viewers for how long ? Turned off a good chunk of base for more viewers for a social justice cause. You think the new more viewers will be long term ? Doubt it

How long will the US keep importing 1.5m+ people a year here who become potential consumers and probably don't mind the SJW stuff?

I dunno, seems like the foreseeable future.

I wonder how a BOSTON/LA would have done in the ratings

Just speaking for myself .
I’m one of the people that normally watches the finals .
But I haven’t watched any of it this year .
It has nothing to do with BLM .
I do find most of that lame but it’s not enough to keep me from watching .

The reason I haven’t watched is because it’s October and the baseball playoffs are playing and I’m not going to watch the NBA over that .

Adam Silver says NBA social justice warrior messages on the court and jerseys will be gone next season.

Rachel Nichols: The NBA has certainly been the most visible billion-dollar organization championing social justice and civil rights. As you noted in your press conference the other day, though, that has not been universally popular. How committed are you to being that going forward?

Adam Silver: We’re completely committed to standing for social justice and racial equality and that’s been the case going back decades. It’s part of the DNA of this league. How it gets manifested is something we’re gonna have to sit down with the players and discuss for next season. I would say, in terms of the messages you see on the court and our jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time when we began these discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer. My sense is there’ll be somewhat a return to normalcy, that those messages will largely be left to be delivered off the floor.

Basically they allowed all of that to happen so they could have this playoff otherwise the players would have walked.
Silver and the owners had no choice but to bend over backwards to appease the ignorant players so they could make their millions.

Also found it amusing that when the players were talking about walking out that once they found out they would be losing 30-40% of their salary this season
and the contracts would also be lower next season due to tv contract they changed their minds real quick to continue.

The NBA finally achieved equality.

They had the same ratings as the WNBA

Doesn't your 2nd paragraph contradict your 1st?

In the first paragraph you state the players would have walked and forfeited their money if they couldn't help the cause.

In your 2nd paragraph you stated the players quickly folded because their money was more important then the cause.

So which one is it?

Wouldn't a more reasonable explanation be that until this years play-offs the NBA never allowed anything of this sort to ever occur, but they found this matter to be so important at the time they made an expectation.

For next season they are going back to their normal practices.
