jordan/pippen. being a homer im tempted to say mchale/bird, but sporscenter today made me remember just how good scottie was before he went to houston and went down the tubes and had a closet drinking problem.

they showed clips of him [pippen] dunking on ewing from 7 feet out, they showed him [pippen] winning the all star MVP this guy was as versatile as versatile could get he could finish on the break, play defense, shoot the 3, take the big shot draw double teams and pass etc etc he was the ultimate super athletic player to put next to the greatest player of all time. all told they would collect 6 titles with nary a legit center or even PG in any of them (jordan would fill at point on occasion, but he was'nt a true PG).

FWIW, I hated the bulls and jordan and pippen I rooted hard against those ****ers everytime they played. I never really learned to appreciate anything they did becuase I spent so much time loathing them until after they were done being bull players. it wasnt until jordan was a wizard I became a big fan of his.

also jordan being a degenerate gambler and scotty having a drinking problem is pretty cool also :>Grin> I remember charles barkley yelling at pippen to stop drinking and take playing more serious when they were in houston in an article. and jordan would place 100 bet on whose luggage came out first after big tipping the guy who places the luggage on the conveyor. a true junkie for the high of gambling.

Hakeem had the great finals vs Orlando 1995...never met the Bulls actually...he was spectacular and ate a young Shaquille O'Neal alive , Hakeem was at the top of his game in 1995, best post season I ever saw from a center, he did it all:drink: Houston sweeping Orlando 4-0

I watched all of those guys play at one time or another in my youth at Boston Garden. I watched Wilt score 66 points one game for Philly but the Celtics won by 20 points.

Those guys just played the game. No Sky Level Vertical jumps, reverse dunks from the FTL, ear rings, or tatoos etc. JUST GAME, toughness and competitiveness. A great ERA of the NBA. Did not mention Elgin but he had more moves and preceded the more currently well knowns like Connie Hawkins, Gus Johnson, Dr. J., George Gervin, Magic, Mike. Vince, & Lebron.

Would Lew Alcinder and Oscar Robertson qualify? I realize the Big O was nearing the end when a young Alcinder teamed with him to win the 1971 (I think vs Balto.) Finals 4-0

BK - I remember some of the top players from late 50s and early 60s well.

Dolph Schayes, Paul Arizin, Pettit, Hal Greer, Cliff Hagen, Tom Gola, Richie Guerin, one of my personal favorites Oscar Robertson, Baylor, West, Cousy, and of course Russell to name some of the better known names. They all played for or against the Celts back then. I recall Walt Bellamy of the old Chicago Zephers (later changed to Bulls) the list goes on. Russel had great battles with Chamberlain but even though they played different positions Oscar and Russell did battle on many occasions. Russell's book "Second Wind" describes the era very well.

Although Olajuwon was dominant in that Orlando/Houson Championship series, many people for some reason think that Hakeem severely outplayed the young Shaq, but that really wasn't the case. The fact is, Oneal held his own, and may have actually put up better numbers than Hakeem. The difference is, Olajuwon had much more help.......

Stats for those 4 Championship Finals Games.....

pon reaching the front row, Vanessaasked Malone about his peculiar attire. He was wearing a cowboy hat. To that, Karlapparently replied with, “I'm hunting for young Mexican girls.” After listening to this, Vanessa Laine Bryant, who is of Mexican descent, simply walked away.
