I rolled into Oxford around 9:30 am Friday and just had an absolute blast for the next 36 hours.
Square was crazy. Played the "new" course at Oxford Country Club for the first time. Really good shape but almost too tough for a golfer like me. Gameday was fun even though I wasn't able to get within 1000 feet of it because of the crowd.
I thought the whole weekend was all for naught after the no call facemask/fumble/scoop and score by Alabama to make it 14-3 right before halftime. When you have a defense as good as us, it's just heart wrenching to see an opponent gifted a TD like that.
Kudos to the players and staff for overcoming that. Great second half adjustments. They shored up whatever it was Alabama had found to allow them to run left. Bama freshman LT is unreal. Staff also figured out that putting 3 WRs on the same side was causing confusion in Bama's secondary. I think almost every big play we had came from that formation. Bo played great. Defense played great. We made enough plays to win.
Also, I thought we had the best punter in the SEc until Alabama. I believe he's a freshman and he can absolutely bomb punts. Flipped the field a few times.
On to Texas A&M. It's going to be really tough not to have a letdown on the road in front of 100k+.
