I agree with Phaedrus for he has a deep, deep understaning of the events of the world combined with a rare, true desire to have actions match words (ie. avoid hypocrisy) -- something which is the highest benchmark of respect IMO.

Still, I think the timing of these comments is unfortunate and that former Vets and supporters should have this holiday respected even by those with opposing views.

Wow, I missed this thread.....all the jerk-offs fighting ....Lander and Phaedrus vs. Eek and Lt. Dan. Phaedrus, funny how you really believe all the shit that you try to feed us. I won't comment on Korea to the current, but you know Hitler's next move was coming over here if he could. I guess his little meeting with the others (Japan and Italy) about ways to split the globe was fictious ?

Add me to the list of contrarians like Lander and Phaedrus in this thread....

Just because some of our soldiers fought in a war doesn't mean they were fighting for our freedom....

Korea and Vietnam were civil wars, other country's civil wars for that matter, fighting in those wars did nothing to protect our freedom. NOTHING. Period. 100,000+ in body bags.

I appreciate the soldiers who fight for our freedom....as for the ones dragged off by our own government to fight in some far off land for purely political purposes or aiding another country's civil war.....I respect the men but I feel that thier cause is unworthy and they are merely pawns in a military conflict.....

...if anything I would blame the government or the higher ranking military officials.....

Where does this attitude of blind patriotism come from where people think that just because men fight in our military force somehow makes us right to be fighting a war? We, as citizens, are supposed to support our government and military just because they are just that? I guess that worked for Hitler...
