He is the one who said that we are square on 2 different occassions

Was that since his last transfer to you? If so, Chop has some explaining to do

(This probably ought to be split off into RR since it has nothing to do with the original thread topic. Then again, shdw ruined this thread with the video anyhow ).

On the other side of the coin, just exactly how can Jeff Francis all of a sudden suck so badly this year? Man-he's been absolutely BRUTAL!

I've checked the Red Sox roster, no one named Cliff Lee. So I don't know who you are talking about, but obviously unless you want to make a case for Papelbon, then Jon Lester should be getting the Cy Young award.

Agree completely. He's a good pitcher but not this good. I suspect he will revert to his old form next season.

His old form was pretty good. He was the ace for a year or two. He was never cy young material but always a solid pitcher. The last two years was his downfall.

Prodigy you sure like to rip the Indians. I would put that AAA team up against a lot of major league teams. Especially the Tigers with all of their so called stars.

nah, just calling it like i see it. the indians management might want to sell you on the fact that they are out of contention because hafner and martinez missed significant time (which is true) .... but the bottom line is they really did little to improve themselves this past offseason. their bullpen is laughable for what was supposed to be a contender. they have no corner infielders (despite repeated attempts to draft or trade for/develop them). hafner hasnt been the same since he got hit in the face by beuhrle a few years ago (which, to be fair, is a shame because he was one of the best hitters in baseball prior to that). there are basically 3 position players on the indians that are untrade-able: sizemore. shoppach (simply because he is a great bargain). and then martinez. the rest of their roster is a lot of 4-A players.

.. and drevil, id love nothing more than to see the indians do well. but they would be wise to follow the approach the browns are taking down the street. the browns recognized they have a window here where they can realistically win the division. so what did they do? they found ways to get better (rogers, stallworth). they werent complacent. meanwhile, the indians just thought they could just show up with the same team as last year, when they caught lightning in a bottle, and contend for the ALCS. it doesnt work that way.

AL Cy Young:

Cliff Lee with god-like #'s on a non-contender, or K-Rod breaking all-time saves record on a division run-away train?

I still think what K-Rod is doing is more significant than what Cliff Lee is doing. Angels have 2nd best record in bball (could end up with best) and K-Rod has saved 54 of the 84 wins. When you know it's game over in the 9th if you have the lead, changes everything. K Rod is going to obliterate Thigpen's record (at the possible expense of post-season success) but if he saves 60, how does he not win Cy Young.

Saves and wins: two of the more worthless statistics to evaluate a pitcher's performance.
