Orr was the greatest defenseman in NHL history. Whether he was the greatest ever over Gretzky will always be a discussion with no definitive answer. I grew up watching Orr and the Bruins during their great years in the 70's, so I favor Orr. He changed the game like no other player at that time. His career was cut short by injuries also or his overall numbers would have been much better. I have no problem with those who say Gretzky was better. They were both great players.


Orr, Willie Mays and Larry Bird were my favorite athletes to watch.
