D.J. Hackett (toe) missed practice Wednesday and is not expected to play in the Panthers' final preseason game against the Steelers.
Hackett has yet to play in a preseason game, and missing the finale could hurt his chances of getting a starting nod Week 1 opposite Muhsin Muhammed while Steve Smith begins a two-game suspension.
