Oregon might be viewed as the "Cinderella" team....the only school West of the Mississippi River going against those big, bad Boys from the South and a team being coached by a former Gator.....Will the Ducks get the calls that can go either-way. Other then the fans of the aforementioned "big, bad-boy" schools, will America be cheering for Oregon ?
I'm always leery about giving points to the more talented team, no matter how they are playing. Ohio State/Wisky was a good example of it. Plus I'm still not totally sold on Helfrich. I think he's a decent coach, but greatness doesn't come to mind with him.Who is the "former Gator"?
Regarding FSU v Oregon; FSU is the most talented team in the country not named "Alabama" (if you look at the recruiting rankings). Those kids were recruited and offered by practically every school in the country. The issue is that most of FSU's talent is young (due to the losses from last year's NC team). I'm a Florida fan, so I want FSU to lose every time they step on the field. However, let's not sit here and act like they are "just" a lucky team. They are very well coached (Jimbo is an asshole, but he can coach. And he's also the only former Saban assistant to go off on his own and have true success). He replaced 6 coaches in 2013 and won a National Championship w/ a freshman QB. He's coached the 1st pick in the NFL draft and 2 of his FSU QBs (in only 5 years as a head coach) have been 1st round draft picks (so don't say he caught lightning in a bottle w/ Jamies). His backup QB was so good that he transferred to Alabama (not some middle of the road school where he was guaranteed a starting spot).
I agree that Oregon likely wins this game....but to say "if Oregon comes to play they win...." is no different than saying "...if FSU comes to play they win." FSU has more talent than Oregon. Oregon uses it's talent differently. If Winston was to return in 2015 I'd say Ohio State and Florida State would be on a collision course for the NC game.
