Wow. I followed this thread intensely during the WSOP checking for updates. Never looked at it again until yesterday when I saw quite a few pages worth of discussion had developed.
We we all loved the thread so much we never questioned it.
Hindsight and all, some of the stories were pretty outlandish. Unk mostly. Also his threads about interviewing people for a position he said could earn $100k easily, seemed like all his interviewees never even bothered to get a GED.
Odds are awmc just exaggerates to the extreme (read: lies). My guess is he's probably played a circuit or two in the past and still has this fantasy that he can grind out a living playing poker. So I'm sure his goal (like many here) is to play in the WSOP and make a run. So he literally just made up a WSOP run and published the story here. What better way to live your fantasy than have actual fans rooting on you while you're "at" the WSOP.
Odds are he has an uncle who's a little weird (who doesn't?). He again likely just extremely exaggerated (again, read: lied) about stories referring to his uncle.
Odds are he has a rental house that he "manages". I'm sure he exaggerated about the size of his business. He did seem knowledgeable on the topic but that's easy to do paragraph by paragraph on a sports betting forum.
Some people really are habitual liars. They'll lie straight to your face even when they know you know he truth. It's an odd complex but seems to be more and more common. I see it every day in my work.
Not it sure there was really any "end game" here. I'm guessing he just really liked to daydream and got a kick out of having people believe this make-believe life was his real life. Although the poker pro who chimed in on this thread did indicate that there are scams that attempt to use mid-tier poker pro names. Only thing I could think of and I believe another poster alluded to this, is awmc asking if any RX posters wanted to buy a piece of him in a few of the poker circuits. Also perhaps he was going to sell a stake of his poker "friend/roommate" too. Who knows?
Again, hindsight should make us all seem at least a little gullible. Hell, if this other guy hadn't chimed in, we'd still believe all of this BS.
Was a fun thread. Maybe the new poker pro who found RX could start a thread for his next circuit/event. Hope so.
