Apparently, the decision to pull Lee from the broadcast was never supposed to hit the public - so then we'd never know about it to begin with. Both sides were worried about him becoming an internet meme, and were trying to avoid the embarrassment.

Exactly.. actually said basically the same thing to my wife yesterday. Trump will win in the electoral perhaps even bigger if election held tomorrow. What's funny is if they just would've kept Lee on the game, there may have been a few jokes here and there but the funniness would've went away in about an hour or so. Now it's a national and international news story.

ESPN is the most powerful sports network in the world. Robert Lee probably makes about 65K. You think they mutually agreed for him to move to a different game? What would you do if you were him and they approached you about moving because of your name?
