I'm sorry, I couldn't even think about buying a car, I'd be devastated for an extended period of time

it would take quite a while before I even cared about life again

Especially if it was a family,member.....wouldn't even think about buying anything with funds given directly to me..

and you're spot on, the last thing i would think of doing is asking people for money if my loved one just died
