Probably not big enough to ever get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but since they were big in my high school years, I always liked Survivor:

I'm not crazy about Boston , all their songs are so similar, kinda what I'd call chainsaw rock

Kansas is almost elevator music, technically solid but kind of boring, IMO and we all have different tastes

I won't spin this thread into best bands, it's about lesser known groups that slipped under the radar, or at least known bands that didn't quite get enough recognition like Foreigner

Boston never really did it for me, The Kinks would be more like it!

I actually made a thread that stayed on topic without being hijacked ! So far ?

Some minor disagreements, but nothing heavy !

It's really about lesser recognized bands like Foreigner that are top 20 easily and don't get the recognition they deserve

Bands like Beatles/ Stones/ Doors/ Eagles, etc are well recognized already

I'm going for lesser known bands like Dire Straits

I love the Stones and Skynyrd but this thread is about forgotten gems ,not one hit wonders either !

Dire straits First album is fantastic from the first cut to the last cut

They are close to making my top 10, top 25 easily

Very under-rated

The guy that plays the saxophone is awesome
If they ain't in the RR hall of fame already, they should be there !
,
Foreigner was awesome as well

You keep mentioning Foreigner. They had nine top 10 singles in the USA and we're basically a household name. Other than being mentioned in the same breath as the Beatles or the Stones I think they got fair and accurate recognition.

They were really good in the 70s but went the commercial route in the 80s and sold out. Probably pressured by the record company to do so. I liked some of their commercial sappy stuff but it was mostly average top 40.

Kinda like when Michael Bolton went from being a rocker in the mid 80s to complete SAP. Hard for anyone to take him seriously after that. He had a nice run though

The poster who mentioned UFO had it right as far as underrated. Great songs and never sold out

I thought it was revealed that Boston was never really a band it was all done by one guy in his basement. My vote would go to a band called Traffic don't know if you ever heard of them but they were pretty decent.
