I was simply stating that I think it takes more skill to place a golf ball on the green than it is for a baseball player to catch, throw or hit a baseball. It's just my opinion. No harm done.

It's very warm here today, not hot really; gusty, but not consistent enough to be considered truly "windy." The diner that sells the best banana cream pie north of I-10 is jumping on this fine day.

Taking those highly-relevant facts into consideration, and consulting with both placed scouts in the skill-testing industry and my close personal associate Mr. Jerry Mathers, I'd have to write in paddle tennis as the most truly skill-intensive sport.

The use of the word SKILL in the question muddies the water. Strictly skill makes the question less about sports. For example..... golf requies quite a bit of skill. However..... golf really can't even be called a sport (recreational competition?). This is because any time groupd like males and females or twenty somethings and retirees.... are able to compete with each other...... sure brings inot question if it is a sport.

Without question - Soccer.

This is because no other sport has near the competition as soccer. There isn't a financial requirement to play (like golf & hockey), size doesn't matter (football & basketball) & there are no specialty player like baseball (DH, relief pitch, etc ..)

Soccer is a combination of speed, skill & strategy like no other sport.

That said - I still suck at it

This answer is preposterous. An activity where you are prohibited from using your hands or arms entirely....... Best sport?????????

Good conditioning activity for REAL sports. That's all soccer is.

Hitting a baseball in MLB is by far the most single most difficult sports skill to master...

Agree with this although with the picture of Daly above I am waiting for someone to post a picture of Tony Gwynn hitting at the end of his career.

I know John Daly has not been playing very well. I know he has a bad gambling habit. I know he has a terrible smoking habit. From the looks of the picture..... you can see that he likes to get "a little past parallel".

I think from the picture we can also guess..... For God's sake..... John must have lots of sponsors that are fast food restaurants!

I voted for basketball because I believe it takes the most skill. As in, it's one sport where you have to play offense, defense, and handle the ball (most players).

BUT, I would say a quarterback being able to read a defense in 3 seconds with absolute physical specimens coming after them and delivering an accurate pass that is completed is one of the hardest skills to master.

Quarterback is the hardest position in all of sports without question.

I would put Tennis up there as well just because it is one individual and you play so often. Lot of running and cutting on those different surfaces. Not to mention they hit the ball at like 130 mph

I think it is hard to separate skill from athleticism or strength or stamina or coordination.

Athleticism or even a athleticism/skill combo then basketball or soccer win by a mile.

If it is just skill then I think golf wins it. we are too busy looking at the professionals....look at the majority of players. If someone practiced soccer everyday they could be pretty good at it after a while. Some guys play golf their whole lives and suck

Chess by far.......

As for your poll, probably golf & I hate the sport......I use to play it from ages 18 to 25 & I even hit a hole in 1 :) & to this day, my brother hasn't done it & it pisses him off & he's been an avid golfer past 20 years.
