I'm just wondering what your criteria is for "overated" and "underated."

- Oklahoma is the bottom top 10 of most of the preseason mags and polls. Are they still "overated" and for what reasons?

- Everyone was overating Notre Dame last season because of Brady Quinn. This year he is gone and everything I have been reading has them dropped way down in polls and public concensus. So, how are they overated this season? Could it be that maybe they might be "underated" this season?

- I agree that South Carolina is a very good team and should do better than even last season's successful 8-5 season. However, as long as Steve Spurrier is the head coach of South Carolina, can we truly say they are underated? If you have a season where you go 8-5 and win a Bowl Game, how can you be considered underated? Underated compared to who? Where do you put them in poll success this season? Where do you put them in ATS success this season?

** I'm just trying to figure out the criteria here for "overated" and "underated" so don't become offended. I'm wanting to learn something from this post if I can . . . . <!--StartFragment -->

Sorry for getting bac to you so late...I just meant by overrated and underrated like who you personally feel is getting more bad or good publicity than ou think they deserve...Thats basicly what I meant. You can use whatever term you want but basicly your saying the same thing...

The main reason for Oaklahoma basicly is because they are having 4 defensive starters return (3 are secondary) .I just dont think that they are going to be a top 10 team this year.I dont have anything aginst Oaklahoma though they are a good team and im sure they will have a good season...I just don't think they can miantain a top 10 position.Remember I said think im no football expert, I am just basing this on my own opinions.

As for South Carolina I guess I just said that because I have seen some negative and positive talk about them ,but I think they are better than most of what I am hearing. And I am tired of hearing that we cant keep up with the rest of the SEC east when the thing is we were keeping up with them last year and if I recall right we never got blown away from any teams, expecially SEC teams.I think the mian reason I havent seen any preseason ratings is because we lost Sydney Rice and Fred Bennett and they were probabally in our top 5 best players. We are always the underdog and the reason is probabally because we have never been a powerhouse or a big name or have a National Cahmpionship so I think they they havent earned respect from alot of people yet...I saw we have the #2 hardest schedule I defenately think we will exceed expectatons.

About Notre Dame I was just thinking in general not really this year they just never impressd me that much...

You also need to look at who is underated and overrated in relation to their schedule. Oklahoma is on the easy year of their scheduling. All of their hard games are played at home except Texas, which is played on a neutral field. I'm not sure where you are getting OU having just 4 starters returning on defense. They have 7. And 15 total. And more importantly lose only 10 lettermen with 50 returning. The Sooners will be a very deep team this season. They don't have to play at Oregon, OSU or Texas A&M. And if they get by Texas, which I know is a big if, they have a legitimate chance at an undefeated season. They may very well be underrated just because of their schedule.

On the other side of that Phil Steele has South Carolina picked to finish second in their division. That could be a little high considering their scheduling. They play LSU, Georgia, Arkansas and Tennessee on the road. I thought SC had a much more favorable schedule last year in going 8-5. So even though they might have a better team this season, their record may not show it. Sporting news and Lindy's has them finishing 4th, which I think is more in line with their schedule. Which as you know is very important when it comes to the SEC.

Sorry about that man I guess I was just misinformed...

I think LSU and Georiga are going to be the worst I am pretty confident about Arkansas and Tennessee.Spurrier said our goal is to win SEC this year and I think we do have a shot even if we are the underdog.
