When it comes to Italian food one of my favorites is veal parmigiana.

daily_nov09_05_plate.jpg

Recipe:

1.
Pound veal with meat mallet to 1/4-inch thickness; pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.

2.
Prepare a batch of your own Italian Tomato Sauce, There are hundreds of recipes for tomato sauces. Many to be found on the internet and others is cookbooks. When cooked leave it to simmer on low.

3.
Beat egg in shallow bowl. Spread bread crumbs and flour on separate plates. Dip veal cutlets to coat both sides evenly, first in flour, then in egg, then in bread crumbs. Press crumb coating firmly onto veal.

4.
Heat butter and 2 tablespoons oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add veal. Cook 3 minutes per side or until browned.

5.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove veal with slotted spatula to ungreased 13X9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over veal. Spoon tomato sauce evenly over mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over tomato sauce. Drizzle remaining 1 tablespoon oil over top.

6.
Bake, uncovered, 25 minutes or until veal is tender and cheese is golden. Garnish with basil leaves, if desired. Serve with pasta covered with your tomato sauce.

7.
Serve with a red wine such as Chianti (if you drink) and fresh Italian bread or garlic bread.

If you refrigerate breaded items for about 1 hour before cooking; the bread crumb coating will tend to stay on better.

Picking on posters who enjoy Olive Garden is just a running joke around here that started when our Fantasy Football Mod Jake T. mentioned he really liked Olive Garden as do thousands or other pepole across the US.

However some of us older posters who grew up in the East in cities like New York, Philly, Boston, Hartford etc. and the areas around those cities are used to real genuine Italian restaurants, most of which offer excellent food. Olive Garden being a chain is taboo to anyone who was raised and used to eating at fine and usually family owed authetentic Italian restaurants.

All things considered as far as chain type restaurants go Olive Garden is far from the worst of the many that now are everywhere IMHO. Although I have only been to a few when living in Las Vegas.

Wil, I think I asked you this before but I'll ask again, what are your favorite Italian restaurants in the North End of Boston? I ate at Bricco and it was pretty good. It was right next to Mike's Pastry and within walking distance of Modern Pastry.

Yeah. I ignored you, that's why. Heh heh heh!!

Funny line you had, though that would only be funny to those who can understand this joke. :103631605

I met Royalfan and Mr. Smith at the 2007 Bash and both turned out to be really good guys. Also spoke with Wilheim for awhile and the guy is a complete gentlemen. He's been through a lot in his life and really seems to be in a good place now. Xpanda was very nice as well. Greendoberman seemed like a great guy but we only chatted briefly. That guy is the life of the party

Never met FHMESQ44 but he's definitely a good guy online. Look forward to meeting him at a Bash sometime if it works out.

If you get a chance to go to the RX Bash I would definitely do it. All the drama and BS is left behind and you get to meet a bunch of really good guys. Even WVU and PO69 are good guys in person from what I've heard.

I don't know if I quite meet the 10,000+ post requirement for this thread, but I got to think people loved Randizzle14 for his NCAAF picks.
