More U.S. Hypocricy - crying over the POW's on Iraqi Televison

What difference does it make ? Our gov't has FULL CONTROL over what the media can and cannot show. ANYTHING our gov't does not want them to show, they CANNOT show. All the military has to say is " that would aid the enemy". By the same token, the military is ALLOWING those Iraqi prisoners to be shown. In fact, there would not be a member of the media travelling with nearly every unit, if our Gov't had not OK'd it.

on 9/12 Bush said " the events of yesterday morning were more than acts of terror- they were acts of WAR". He then went on to declare a WAR on Terrorism. How can Al Queda prisoners not be considered POW's ? And by the same reasoning couldn't Iraq say it doesnt consider coalition prisoners POW's ?

YES. We routinely torture or have tortured Al Queda Prisoners. Just 2 weeks ago I heard Rumsfeld gloating about how the recent big Al Queda member arrested would likely help us find Bin Laden.

Please. Save the argument that it is OK if we have another country do the torturing for us. We are still just as guilty. Just like we would not say it was OK if Iraq handed our POW's over to NK and let NK torture them.

i saw the tape on canadian tv (full tape) as soon as it was released.

it was ugly, but i also found ugly the tapes of iraqi POW shown on cnn, abc, nbc, fox, in last few days.

the footage only has the al jazeera symbol.

It doesnt matter if it was state run Iraq media. Our Gov't CONTROLS what NBC, ABC, CBS and CNN show. In fact, I heard last night after I posted this thread, that they have been told not to show Iraqi POW's anymore, so that shows they DO control what is put on the networks.

I know the next response by the always support our gov't crowd will be " We dont interview them and make them answer questions". That is because there are too many of them.

Remember John Walker Lindh ( the american taliban ). He was taken POW, and he was shown all over our networks, and they were all asking him silly questions just like Iraq.


For the record, I think what Iraq did was also sick and perverted. I just think we should face the facts that our Gov't does some pretty sick and perverted things as well. ( Such as allowing members of the media to travel with units to make good Television )

some people are just too arogant to say such things. i think no one tries to deny that iraq violated the un conventions yesterday. the thing is, many are ignoring the International Red Cross statement yesterday, which said that both sides voilated the geneva conventions, by showing POW on TV.
