Rotation #953-954
Phillies/Nationals Over 8.5 runs
Wheeler/Gray
It will be a sticky and humid night in the DC area. As the game goes on the humidity will rise which makes the ball travel further. Zack Wheeler has been great this year for Philly, but his numbers have dipped in the last month. Jon Gray is in the same boat as his numbers have not been as good in the last month. There is always the issue of the bullpens. Philly’s bullpen has been brutal so you can always count on late runs if needed. Take the Over.

MILWAUKEE @ SAN FRANCISCO | 08/30 | 9:45 PM EDT
SAN FRANCISCO +120
ANALYSIS: The Giants are coming off their first series loss in over a month. The law of averages with this team says they are ripe for a victory. They return home, where they are 42-19. Being home is good news for starter Johnny Cueto, too, as he has a 3.09 home ERA vs. 4.47 on the road. The bad news here is we're betting against Corbin Burnes. He's been amazing this year, particularly on the road. He's also more than double his workload in this season than any other in the majors and, at some point, he's likely to hit a wall. The Giants hit really well at home, so we'll wager they get to him enough in this one to pull off the win.

PHILADELPHIA @ WASHINGTON | 08/30 | 7:05 PM EDT
PHILADELPHIA -145
ANALYSIS: The Nationals have lost six of their last eight and 18 of their last 24. Josiah Gray gets the ball Monday and he's been great for the Nets since being acquired in the Scherzer/Turner trade, pitching to a 2.89 ERA in five starts. That's why we get good odds here with the better team and Zack Wheeler. Sure, Gray might pitch well, but he hasn't gone deeper than six innings and the Nationals have a 6.22 bullpen ERA since the All-Star break. Wheeler has been bad in his last three starts, but this is a soft landing as the Nationals don't have a productive offense anymore. He'll bounce back.

BOSTON @ TAMPA BAY | 08/30 | 7:10 PM EDT
BOSTON +125
ANALYSIS: The Rays and Red Sox begin their fifth series this season. Boston RHP Nick Pivetta has struggled in recent starts but has been above-average against Tampa Bay. Pivetta has had five scoreless outings this year, with two of them occurring against the Rays. Look for the underdog Red Sox to end Tampa Bay's seven-game winning streak.

MILWAUKEE @ SAN FRANCISCO | 08/30 | 9:45 PM EDT
MILWAUKEE -135
ANALYSIS: It's tough to bet against the Giants when they're at home (42-19 this season), but the price is reasonable enough behind Corbin Burnes, who's 5-0 with a 1.87 ERA in 10 road starts. Johnny Cueto was extremely fortunate in his first start back from injury last time out (the Giants turned five double plays in that game, a 3-2 win over the Mets). It's also the GIants' first home game after a long road trip, so they could come out flat. Back Milwaukee.

ATLANTA @ L.A. DODGERS | 08/30 | 10:10 PM EDT
UNDER 9
ANALYSIS: Both the Dodgers and Braves have strong offenses, but neither has been nearly as good against lefties as righties. That's important to consider since there are two lefties slated to start this game tonight, so my numbers tell me that this total is just a little too high.

BOSTON @ TAMPA BAY | 08/30 | 7:10 PM EDT
TAMPA BAY -135
ANALYSIS: These teams look pretty similar in most matchups tonight. Nick Pivetta and Luis Patiño are almost mirror images of one another as pitchers, and both offenses provide pop. But there's one difference: Tampa has the best bullpen in baseball, and that advantage alone leaves value on the Rays at this price.

BALTIMORE @ TORONTO | 08/30 | 7:07 PM EDT
TORONTO -1.5
ANALYSIS: I love fading Baltimore any chance I can, and with Robbie Ray starting for the Blue Jays tonight, it's another perfect opportunity. Ray's strikeout rate ranks fourth in baseball, and the Orioles are one of the most swing-happy teams in the league. It won't be a great combination for Baltimore.

N.Y. YANKEES @ L.A. ANGELS | 08/30 | 9:38 PM EDT
N.Y. YANKEES -156
ANALYSIS: Apparently, this will be the MLB debut of Angels pitcher Kyle Tyler, a 20th-round pick out of Oklahoma in 2018. He has solid minor-league numbers overall but was hit around in five Triple-A games this year, going 1-2 with a 5.14 ERA. The Yankees seem due a big offensive night after scoring just three runs in back-to-back losses in Oakland. Corey Kluber starts for NYY but will be on a pitch count off the injured list. New York has won five straight series openers.

PHILADELPHIA @ WASHINGTON | 08/30 | 7:05 PM EDT
UNDER 8.5
ANALYSIS: Rain might affect a part of this game but it should be played. I also think this total may drop to 8, so I'll jump now at 8.5. The Phillies are without All-Star catcher JT Realmuto (and of course lost Rhys Hoskins for the season last week). It's a pretty weak lineup other than Bryce Harper, and young Nats right-hander Josiah Gray has a 2.89 ERA since being acquired from the Dodgers. Phils ace Zack Wheeler should be able to hold that meh Washington lineup to just a few runs. This feels like a 4-3 maybe 5-3 game, so Under it is.
