Race 8 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $9000 Class Rating: 66

FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NOT WON A RACE SINCE OCTOBER 3. THREE YEAR OLDS, 119 LBS.; OLDER, 122 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $4,000

RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 1 FORESTER'S DIVA 9/2

# 3 SERIOUS STUFF 12/1

# 11 PROTHOE 4/1

FORESTER'S DIVA is my choice. This mare looks like a longshot with a chance. Earnings per start in dirt sprint races is solid for this equine. A solid 85 avg class fig may give this mare a distinct class edge against this group. SERIOUS STUFF - The Equibase speed fig of 56 from her latest contest looks decent in here. Is a sharp contender based on figures posted lately under today's conditions. PROTHOE - Shanyfelt has a strong 15 percent win rate with entries running at this distance and surface.

RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 4 SORELLI 9/5

# 1 CHICKS R GONE 2/1

# 5 KLASSIC SECRET BR 5/1

SORELLI is my choice. Displays the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 91 Equibase Speed Fig which is one of the most favorable in this field. Has a sharp record at the distance and surface, which makes me favor this filly. Is a contender - given the 99 speed fig from her most recent race. CHICKS R GONE - Investors should probably note that this racer runs on Lasix today. Has been close up at the finish line most every time recently. KLASSIC SECRET BR - She looks competitive in this spot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the halfway point. Has to be given a chance - I like the numbers from the last race.

Delaware Park - Race #6 - Post: 3:45pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $13,000 Class Rating: 92

Rating:

#5 BROTHERSOFTHETIME (ML=5/2)
#6 TWO TERM LEADER (ML=4/1)
#1 BEHR IN THE WOODS (ML=15/1)
#7 CURLIN'S KID (ML=8/1)

BROTHERSOFTHETIME - The rider and handler combination have a favorable return on investment when they work together. I am keen on that last race on September 21st at Delaware Park where he finished third. Earnings per start is something that I believe can be a vital selection factor. This horse is ranked number one in this group. TWO TERM LEADER - This thoroughbred coming off a strong try in the last month is a solid contender in my opinion. Entered at the same class level and distance of his last win, which is a big plus for this gelding. This gelding is rounding his way back into shape. Should run well today. This horse has increased his speed ratings in each of the last 2 races. That kind of progress is important to note. BEHR IN THE WOODS - This gelding is in a good spot here. Is at the same distance he won at on July 7th. Lets try to beat the chalks with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty good race. You always have to be on the lookout for revenue generating jockey/handler duos; we have an instance right here. CURLIN'S KID - This gelding should be in fine form, this far into his form cycle.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 SYNTHESIZER (ML=9/2), #8 CELTIC MOON (ML=6/1), #2 PULLING AWAY (ML=8/1),

SYNTHESIZER - Will probably be at the rear with too much to do down the stretch. This gelding notched a speed rating in his last event which likely isn't good enough in today's event. CELTIC MOON - Improbable that the speed rating he garnered on Aug 25th will be good enough in this race. PULLING AWAY - You always think this equine has a shot to be victorious, but he comes up short regularly. Run-of-the-mill speed fig last race out at Delaware Park at 6 furlongs. Don't think this horse will improve too much in today's race.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

Bet on #5 BROTHERSOFTHETIME to win if we can get at least 3/1 odds

EXACTA WAGERS:

Mountaineer Park - Race #7 - Post: 9:12pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $14,100 Class Rating: 76

Rating:

#5 MIKE'S BENCHMARK (ML=3/1)

MIKE'S BENCHMARK - I think this gelding is very fit right now. I like the fact that Zircher brings him back to a race so quickly. A thoroughbred coming back this rapidly after a nice effort is a good sign.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 EL INDIO CAYACOA (ML=5/2), #4 TEMPLAR'S CROSS (ML=9/2), #7 YUKAN CHOOSE (ML=5/1),

EL INDIO CAYACOA - This colt didn't do too much last time. TEMPLAR'S CROSS - This gelding is always in the mix, but just doesn't win. Hard to play him on the top end.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

#5 MIKE'S BENCHMARK to win at post-time odds of 1/1 or better

EXACTA WAGERS:

5 with 1

TRIFECTA WAGERS:

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

PICK 5: 4,7/3,6,7/2,3,4,6,7/1,3,9/8 = $18

EARLY PICK 4: 1,3,9/8/2,3,6/1,2,8 = $27

LATE PICK 4: 1,4,8/5,6,7/4/3,5,6,8 = $36

MEET STATS: 379 - 1143 / $1963.20 BEST BETS: 63 - 105 / $195.10

SPOT PLAYS: 23 - 105 / $157.90

Best Bet: HEZA THRILL N (5th)

Spot Play: LIGHT FOOT RD (8th)

Race 1

(4) CRACKER ZACK improved on the drop to claimers and was taken by the leading trainer. He meets a weak group here and can break through for his first 2016 win but he also may be heavily bet. (7) BLUSH AND CRUSH should be prominent throughout utilizing his good early speed. (9) ICE O LATE has one of the best drivers in here and he could blow up the tote if he stays flat. (8) BOOTS N HEARTS is worth a look dropping into a claimer here.

Race 2

(7) SCENE A MAGICIAN comes off an easy win in a new life's best and gets a slight nod over (6) MASS PRODUCTION here based on recency. The latter should excel in this company, but the month in between starts is concerning. (3) THEMANOFMYDREAMS is a dangerous speed threat of he can stay flat. (5) NOBLE PRIZE is one of the best closers in here. He could better this prediction and is a good one to use in all of the bottom exotics slots.

Race 3

(7) MAJESTIC STREAK can take these a long way on the lead if he behaves. I'll give him a slight nod in a race full of possibilities. (4) REACH THE PEAK races well for Filion and he returns here; using. (3) ROSE RUN SPEEDSTER is sure-gaited which can be a big advantage here. (2) LIFE WELL LIVED has an excellent record but I'm not sure what to make of his final 1/4 in the September 27th qualifier.

Race 4

(1) JIMMY BE GOOD was completely buried throughout the mile last week. With a clean trip this time, he can rebound at a much better price than he was then. (9) INTENDED STYLE was a big winner off the claim last time and he's the one to beat here. (3) NEW YORK NIGHTMARE is tough in this class and comes off a sharp win; toss on multi-race tickets. (4) GRIN FOR MONEY drops and could rebound with a much better effort after being fried early last time.

Race 5

(8) HEZA THRILL N motored home to just miss in his North American debut. Anything close to a repeat of that effort would make him very tough vs. these. (6) RAYLAN GIVENS raced well in his debut for trainer Menary. Further improvement could be coming here. (1) UF BETTORS HANOVER gets class and post relief and is useable here. (4) P L IDAHO has gone some big miles over this track. He could be trouble if he gets left alone on the lead for a while.

Race 6

(6) ACTION MAJESTY should like getting back to Mohawk, where she is undefeated. A better trip is likely here; top call. (2) FUTURE HEADLINES is sharp and she can be raced effectively from anywhere. (3) YARIS BAYAMA should be a speed threat here leaving from a better post over a track where she took her life's mark. (1) MANHATTAN PLAY may have tipped her hand last time with a much better effort; consider for exotics.

Race 7

(2) SERGEANT SEELSTER was second to a colt that has been sensational in the non-winners classes. If he starts his move earlier here, he can beat these. (1) DEUCE DEUCE DEUCE looks like the main threat stepping up off a nice maiden win. (8) MISSEDBYADAY moves in a couple of posts and retains J Mac, who has been great with closers this meet. (9) DAYLINER is worth a look at a price facing easier.

Race 8

(8) LIGHT FOOT RD goes for Auciello who does well with new acquisitions. This one will likely blast off early and try to go coast-to-coast. (4) OUTLAW GUNPOWDER went a big trip pressuring some fast splits when winning at Flamboro. He is sharp and dangerous. (1) AMBLE OVER HANOVER was no match for a powerful winner that was starting for a new barn last week; using. (3) CURATOR is likely to close for a smaller share here.

Race 9

I have always thought (6) AINT THREE OK is one of the best in this division. She can beat these with a decent trip. (5) WINDY SPORT is in great form and is hard to leave off the Pick 4. (7) BLAMEITONTHENIGHT won a Grand Circuit race two back when Gingras drove. She isn't out of this but seems more likely for a smaller share from this post. (1) P L KAHLUAA should get a good following trip here and take a share.

Race 10

(4) MANY FACETS benefitted from a driver change last week and he was ready to produce a big mile. Call to repeat. (8) WHO SAID NOT TO was no match for the winner but he should benefit from having that opener and he can go forward here. (3) PRAIRIECREEKPRINCE made a threatening move in his debut then tired a bit. He should be good for one of the minor shares here. (5) THIS IS MY SONG keeps drifting out down the lane which costs him placings. If he can pace straight, he should be able to hit the ticket here.

Race 11

(6) WEATHERLY closed okay last week in this class and he could get a more aggressive steer this time; slight nod in a contentious finale. (9) LEAFS AND WINGS will be well back early here, but he can mow these down if there is a bit of action early in the mile. (5) SPINFINITI has faced tougher and could wake up with a better performance here. (3) BUGGER MAX can contend from an inner post here. (1) CAMS ORACLE can improve in his second start over the track and take a share.

Yonkers: Monday 10/3 Analysis
By Matt Rose

DRF

MEET STATS: 340 - 991 / $1,838.40

BEST BETS: 44 - 82 / $147.60

Best Bet: MANIANA (8th)

Spot Play: NITRO GLISTENING (9th)

Race 1

(3) THE SMIDGE was extremely impressive trouncing the field last week upon arrival and he could come right back despite losing Bartlett. (4) PREJUDICE has raced well in his last three since moving to the half-mile oval and note the barn change here. (5) STIRLING ESCORT broke at 3/5 two back, then had no chance last out from the eight hole. Consider at a price.

Race 2

(1) UP YOUR GAME needed last week's start after tiring in that qualifier versus some good rivals. Filly draws best in a listless field. (4) LEGIO X EQUESTRIS qualified willingly in preparation for her career debut. (3) ANOTHER LOOK has been aggressively handled in her two starts since moving to the Robertson barn but she fell flat on her face in both races.

Race 3

(2) BULLVILLE GG gets a huge barn change and a huge upgrade to Bartlett; does it matter how bad she looks on paper? (6) PRINCESS DELCINE raced pretty well upon arrival. (1) WITHOUT A DOUBT is 2 for 2 since moving to the Rousse barn.

Race 4

(7) PRETTY BOY HILL was outfinished late after battling a long way; Alagna trainee is sharp and deserves another shot. (1) MAURICE was an upset winner last out and lands another good post; MacDonald drives tonight. (3) BREAKTIME HANOVER has Bartlett back driving for Milici.

Race 5

(4) WINNING LINC was very game and stubborn last out in defeat and should be the better price with Bartlett opting elsewhere. (1) SHOW THE FASHION broke leaving last out but returns to the top driver and draws best. (2) MAAJAAKKOBE is just 2 for 31 lifetime but could be considered underneath.

Race 6

(3) ELECTROFIRE gets some post relief and was second best in back-to-back starts from a similar spot last month. (6) WINDSUN STETSON drops down a notch and hasn't been that bad recently. (1) ITRUSTYOU was a winner the last time he had a catch-driver in the sulky.

Race 7

(7) FROG POND PRINCESS has proven in a short period of time that she belongs with this type; problem here is the post but that will help the price. (1) HEARTS WILD was much-improved last out. (4) ART CRITIC hails from Burke and was a good second when last here.

Race 8

(1) MANIANA was outbattled at the wire by the rugged uncovered winner upon arrival from Canada and she can be even better tonight. (4) ROSY OUTLOOK goes back to Bartlett after stopping on the front end. (6) PLACE TO ROCKNROLL never threatened upon hiking to this level; use underneath.

Race 9

(1) NITRO GLISTENING has raced pretty well in practically every local effort and he draws best in this very weak NW4 field. (2) DEVILS CUT also draws well and should be close up throughout. (3) GOLDEN GESTURE had no chance in his last two local efforts and returns off an even effort out of town.

Race 10

(6) ICTHELIGHT HANOVER ships from Canada, joins the usually live Rohr barn, picks up Bartlett and faces nothing special here. (1) NIP'S BEACH GIRL didn't show much last out but she gets needed post relief. (3) MYDELIGHT BLUECHIP has shown some closing ability in the past.

Race 11

(3) AUTOTUNE HANOVER has never been a consistent sort and is still looking for his first 2016 win but his best effort probably takes this. (1) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING seems good enough to protect position and sit a live trip. (6) SHANE ADAM tries Bartlett tonight and can kick home nicely.

Race 12

(7) CAVIART SKYLER debuts for the Burke barn and has been racing well versus tougher; worth a try at an expected good price. (5) CRAFTSHIP made good money in the NYSS despite having a poor win record. (2) TRADING UP hasn't raced in a year but he qualified nicely; likely needs a start.

MLB roundup: Giants claim NL wild card by beating Dodgers
By The Sports Xchange

SAN FRANCISCO -- Left-hander Matt Moore pitched eight innings of shutout ball and batterymate Buster Posey drove in three runs with three hits on Sunday as the San Francisco Giants competed a three-game sweep of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers with a 7-1 win Sunday to capture the second wild-card playoff spot in the National League.
The Giants (87-75) will face the New York Mets (87-75) in the single-elimination wild card game on Wednesday in New York. The Mets earned the home-field advantage in the game by virtue of their 4-3 season-series win over the Giants.
The Dodgers will open the NL Division Series on the road Friday against the Washington Nationals. Los Angeles clinched the NL West title last Sunday, then lost five of six this week to the San Diego Padres and Giants.
Moore, who took a no-hitter into the ninth inning of a game in Los Angeles on Aug. 25, was nearly as good on Sunday. The three hits he allowed all came in the fourth inning, by Justin Turner, Adrian Gonzalez and Yasmani Grandal.
Angel Pagan also had three hits for the Giants, who out-hit the Dodgers 16-4.

Blue Jays 2, Red Sox 1
BOSTON -- Troy Tulowitzki singled in the go-ahead run with two outs in the eighth inning to help Toronto clinch an American League wild-card berth with the win over Boston.
Toronto (89-73) claimed the top American League wild-card spot despite the Baltimore Orioles' 5-2 win over the New York Yankees earlier in the day. By virtue of a better head-to-head record, the Blue Jays will host the Orioles on Tuesday.
AL East champion Boston (93-69) will open its AL Division Series with the Indians on Thursday in Cleveland after its loss and the Indians' 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Devon Travis launched a solo homer, his 11th home run of the year, and Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez threw 6 2/3 hitless innings before his no-hit bid was broken up. Sanchez (15-2) gave up a run, two hits and two walks while striking out six.
Boston' s David Ortiz, playing in the 2,408th and final regular-season game of his career, was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Orioles 5, Yankees 2
NEW YORK -- Matt Wieters homered from both sides of the plate in consecutive at-bats and Baltimore Orioles clinched a spot in the American League wild-card game with the victory over the New York Yankees.
Wieters became the first Orioles player to homer from both sides of the plate since Hall of Fame second baseman Roberto Alomar on July 25, 1996 against Cleveland at Camden Yards. The switch-hitting catcher recorded his seventh career multi-homer game and third this season.
The Orioles (89-73) clinched their third postseason in five seasons and will play at Toronto on Tuesday. The Blue Jays host because they won the season series 10-9.
New York' s Mark Teixeira ended his 14-year career by going 0-for-3 and making a diving stop on Wieters in the second inning.

Cardinals 10, Pirates 4
ST. LOUIS -- Stephen Piscotty knocked in Yadier Molina with the tie-breaking run on a single to center during a six-run seventh inning as St. Louis defeated Pittsburgh.
The victory at sold-out Busch Stadium was rendered meaningless by San Francisco' s 7-1 rout of the Los Angeles Dodgers, eliminating St. Louis from the National League playoffs for the first time since 2010.
The Cardinals finished 86-76, winning their last four games, but couldn' t catch the Giants, who also won their last four games. It was the first time in manager Mike Matheny' s five seasons that St. Louis didn' t reach the playoffs.
Andrew McCutchen and John Jaso each had two RBIs for the Pirates.

Nationals 10, Marlins 7
WASHINGTON -- Max Scherzer won his league-high 20th game of the year and drove in a career-high four runs with two hits as National League East champion Washington beat Miami.
Washington' s Wilmer Difo broke a 5-5 tie as he drove in a run with a fielder' s choice in the last of the fifth. Danny Espinosa followed with a two-run homer -- his 24th of the year -- to make it 8-5 off reliever Austin Brice.
Those runs gave Scherzer (20-7) the win, as he left after giving up five runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts in five innings. He led the league with 284 strikeouts this year and gave up 31 homers, including two Sunday.
The Nationals (95-67) open the NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Braves 1, Tigers 0
ATLANTA -- Julio Teheran made one run stand up and outdueled Justin Verlander as Atlanta closed Turner Field by blanking Detroit.
The loss eliminated Detroit from the American League wild-card race.
Teheran (7-10) did not allow a run in seven innings of work. He threw 100 pitches and 69 were strikes. He gave up three hits and only one walk. He struck out 12, which matched his career high set on May 24 against Milwaukee.
Verlander (16-9) worked seven innings and gave up only one run on six hits. He struck out eight and had one intentional walk.
The game was the final one contested at Turner Field, the club' s home for the last 20 years. Atlanta will move to the new Sun Trust Park in the northwest suburbs of Marietta next spring.

Indians 3, Royals 2
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Yan Gomes homered in his first at-bat since coming off the disabled list and Josh Tomlin pitched effectively into the eighth inning as Cleveland nipped Kansas City.
The Indians went 14-5 against the Royals this season. The 2015 World Series champion Royals ended the season with four straight losses and finished at 81-81.
Francisco Lindor' s sacrifice fly in the eighth scored Carlos Santana with the go-ahead run. Tomlin limited the Royals to two runs and six hits over 7 1/3 innings, throwing 64 strikes in 88 pitches.
Cleveland hosts the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS on Thursday.

Athletics 3, Mariners 2
SEATTLE -- Oakland' s Stephen Vogt homered in his only at-bat, and the A' s finished off a frustrating 2016 season on a two-game winning streak by downing Seattle.
Vogt' s first inning home run help the A' s (69-93) jump out to a 3-0 lead on the way to their first back-to-back wins since mid-September.
Seattle (86-76) fell short in its first game since being eliminated from postseason contention the previous night. The Athletics scored three times on Mariners starter Felix Hernandez, who made an abbreviated appearance while throwing just 47 pitches over three innings.

Angels 8, Astros 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Jhoulys Chacin pitched seven scoreless innings to lead Los Angeles to the rout of Houston.
Chacin scattered three hits, issued one walk, amassed seven strikeouts and induced 11 groundouts. Mike Trout stole his 30th base and drove in his 100th run of the season. Jefry Marte added his 15th home run as the Angels finished the season by winning nine of their final 11 games.
Houston' s Jose Altuve secured the American League' s batting championship with a .338 average and finished first with 216 hits after going 1-for-4. But the Astros lost seven of their final 10 games.

Diamondbacks 3, Padres 2
PHOENIX -- Brandon Drury had three hits, including a game-tying homer, and pinch-hitter Phil Gosselin singled in the winning in the bottom of the ninth inning as Arizona edged San Diego.
Tuffy Gosewisch doubled with two outs in the ninth against left-hander Brad Hand (4-4) and was replaced by pinch-runner Socrates Brito to bring up Gosselin, who leads the major leagues with 20 pinch hits. Arizona (69-93) swept the three-game series to finish ahead of the Padres (68-94) for fourth place in the National League West.
Ryan Schmipf hit an apparent go-ahead homer down the right-field line with one out in the top of the ninth, but the ball was ruled foul after an replay review initiated by Arizona manager Chip Hale.

Phillies 5, Mets 2
PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia honored long-time first baseman Ryan Howard before the game and its bats came alive for a comeback win over the New York Mets.
Mets first baseman Lucas Duda committed a double error in the seventh inning to aid the Phillies. Duda' s errors allowed Andres Blanco to score the tying run and set up Cesar Hernandez' s go-ahead RBI single.
The Mets ended the regular season winning four of their last five games. They had already clinched home field advantage for Wednesday' s National League wild-card game against San Francisco.

Twins 6, White Sox 3
CHICAGO -- Byron Buxton went 2-for-4, including an leadoff inside-the-park home run, as Minnesota cruised past the Chicago White Sox.
Buxton reached base three times, scored twice and added two RBI to help shoot down White Sox left-hander Chris Sale' s bid for a career-high 18th victory.
The Twins (59-103) closed with three wins in their final four games. The White Sox finished 78-84 with losses in three of their last four.

Cubs 7, Reds 4
CINCINNATI -- Matt Szczur' s two-run double and a two-run home run by Miguel Montero in a four-run, ninth-inning outburst lifted the Chicago Cubs to the victory over Cincinnati.
The Cubs trailed 4-3 going into the ninth inning against Raisel Iglesias, but with runners on first and second, Szczur lined a pitch down the right-field line to put them ahead 5-4. Montero then crushed his eighth home run to right-center.
Catcher Willson Contreras hit his 12th home run for National League Central champion Chicago (103-58), which will host either the New York Mets or San Francisco Giants on Friday in Game 1 of the NLDS.

Brewers 6, Rockies 4
DENVER -- Andrew Susac hit a two-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning as Milwaukee knocked off Colorado.
Susac' s homer came off Chris Rusin (3-5). Susac' s homer was his first since July 12, 2015, against Philadelphia while playing for San Francisco.
Colorado' s DJ LaMahieu didn' t play for the second straight day and won the batting title with a .348 average, one point better than Washington' s Daniel Murphy. Milwaukee' s Chris Carter and Colorado' s Nolan Arenado shared the National League home run title with 41.
The Brewers' two-run second put them ahead 2-1. Hernan Perez was hit with a pitch to open the inning and scored when Arcia followed with a double as Blackmon lost the ball in the sun. Arcia stole third and scored on Jake Elmore' s ground out.

Rays 6, Rangers 4
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tampa Bay scored twice in the 10th inning to end its season with a victory over Texas.
Richie Shaffer scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and Alexei Ramirez scored on Curt Casali' s RBI double for the Rays. Ramirez, who doubled in the 10th, finished with a season-high four hits, scored twice and picked up an RBI.
The Rangers will now rest up to play either Toronto or Baltimore in the ALDS starting Thursday in Arlington, Texas.
Texas forced extra innings on Hanser Alberto' s single off Alex Colome in the ninth inning.
