Parx Racing - Race #9 - Post: 4:01pm - Allowance - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $42,000 Class Rating: 84

Rating:

#6 BUTTERCUP GOLD (ML=8/1)
#1 AWESOME SINGER (ML=7/2)

BUTTERCUP GOLD - Stand by this pony. Coming off the pace, I think she'll be in a terrific spot to crush them in the stretch. The November 17th clash at Del Mar was at a class level of (94). Dropping down the ladder based on class drastically, so she should be in a good position. Last two speed figures (92, 85) were dominant. Anything close to that in this event and this one may win easily. Wong moves this horse here to Parx Racing from Del Mar. Looking at the horse's PP lines, she has shown the ability to win at multiple race tracks. You have to be keen on that recent race figure, 85, which is the top recent race speed rating of this field. AWESOME SINGER - I like that last effort on December 27th at Parx Racing where she ran first.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 HEARTY JONES (ML=5/2), #1A SIX DEGREE (ML=7/2), #4 COURTAGE (ML=4/1),

HEARTY JONES - Extended rest time, then came back and finished sixth. Hard to expect much better this time around. SIX DEGREE - This filly is always close, but just doesn't get the job done. Difficult to invest in her on the top end. Finished first in her most recent race with a most unsatisfactory speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this bunch. COURTAGE - The speed ratings continue to decline, 84/75/70. Not a healthy indication.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:

EARLY PICK 4: 1,3,4/2,4,5,8,9/1,6,9/4 = $45

LATE PICK 4: 4,5,6/2,4,7,9/2,3,5,6/3 = $48

MEET STATS: 77 - 322 / $437.60 BEST BETS: 12 - 30 / $44.70

SPOT PLAYS: 9 - 29 / $44.20

Best Bet: PODGE (1st)

Spot Play: NOBETTORPLACETOBE (9th)

Race 1

(7) PODGE got a horrific trip last week when he was pressed every step of the mile and he still managed to hang on for 4th. An easier trip is likely here, which should produce a win. (6) SECRECY made a menacing move turning for home last week but the pace really accelerated and he couldn't keep pace. That was his first start in a month and he should improve here. (10) REDONKULUS exploded late to win last week but he is likely to get a tougher trip here. (4) MAYFIELD DUKE should make the bottom of the Tri or Super here.

Race 2

(4) BEACH TERROR showed late interest in his first start for Johnson off the claim last week. Expect a more aggressive drive here. (6) SHARK REALITY made a middle move last week but he couldn't keep pace late when the winner flew home. He can improve off that mile. (9) DINNER AT THE MET is worth a look dropping to the bottom level. (8) JAC SPADE will be passing many of these late for a share.

Race 3

(7) BATOUTAHILL exploded from last to win last week in an impressive effort. There are fewer horses to pass here; call to repeat. (6) LMC MASS OAK wasn't far back of the choice last week and he remains in good form; using. (5) WINDSONG MAGIC was 2nd in the same race after making a couple of moves and is another in with a shot here. (4) HONOR ABOVE ALL has missed some time; minor share predicted.

Race 4

(4) DREAM OF LUCK got room too late last week. He can go forward off that good comeback effort here. (1) FUSION FIVE can be a bigger threat with a better start here. (3) ARTS N MUSIC didn't beat much at London last time, but he did it effortlessly and he is worth a look here. (5) WINDSUN GOTHAM figures for a minor share here.

Race 5

(4) COVERT OPERATIVE should enjoy the class drop here; top call. (9) A ROD HALL is in top form and he will be passing horses late again, but it's hard to say if he will be close enough to pass them all. (5) OLYMPIC SON steps up off a sharp win; using. (2) MEADOWBRANCH MEMO is another that is in solid form that could take this with the right trip.

Race 6

(9) COBALT MAN was taken back early last week but he was coming quickly late. He should be looking for a better spot early here which would make a big difference. (6) JIMMY BE GOOD is worth using here in his first start for Bourassa. (1) JENKINS CREEK improved last time racing out of Auciello's barn. He's in with a decent shot here. (4) SIERRA MADRE closed well late last week. He can be an exotics factor here.

Race 7

(4) RESISTANCE FUTILE projects to get a better setup for his late charge here; top call. (6) WEATHERLY failed in a first-up bid last time. He can be closer here if he grabs some cover. (5) DIALAMARA can take these a long way on the lead; using. (2) BIG PETES STYLE could follow along near the front and crack the exotics at a price.

Race 8

(7) SIBSON got going too late last week, but he was coming late. A better start puts him right there vs. these. (9) STRIKINGLYIMPRESIVE faces easier and he races better near the front. It wouldn't shock if he blasted to the front here. (2) IM WANTED can close for a small share again, at a minimum. (4) PICK UP THE TAB can threaten from close range and stick around for a slice.

Race 9

(3) NOBETTORPLACETOBE wired the field with authority last time he raced in this class on December 19th. Cullen - who is off to a good start this year - is likely sending him. (2) MYSTIC DEUCE is in excellent from for a hot barn; using. (6) P J CAMDEX goes for a barn that can move one up considerably off a claim; consider for Pick 4 bets. (5) INTENDED STYLE always seems to be around at the finish. He should take a share here.

Race 10

(3) REBEL VOYAGER remains unbeaten following a game score here last week. The step up here isn't that steep; top call. (5) MR MATCH ON BEACH gets post relief here and he should get an easier trip; using. (10) AMAZING PERCH should pass many of these late and take a share. (4) BUGGER JERRY can get an easier trip here than he did last week and make the ticket. (1) OVERTHINKENIT will pepper the early pace and he could stick around for a minor award.

Yonkers: Monday 1/23 Analysis
By Matt Rose

DRF

MEET STATS: 13 - 52 / $72.90

BEST BETS: 2 - 5 / $9.80

Best Bet: ROCK POWER (6th)

Spot Play: VINOVIO (9th)

Race 1

(1) LATESCAPE wasn't particularly aggressively handled last week and was outfinished after pulling uncovered; give her another chance with a better trip starting from the rail. (4) RED HOT HILL saved, shook free and got up last time; overbet off that effort? (5) SOMETHINGINAWATER collapsed after walking on the front end last week; perhaps she's better suited from off the pace.

Race 2

(3) SHIFT RIGHT could not close the deal last week after parking pressure and trying to bottom the field; he'll be favored again tonight and let's see if he can actually make it to the wire. (5) MAGRITTE finished well to upset in her local debut; threat. (6) FAST N VICTORIOUS understandably tired after being hung by the top choice; he's just 1 for 28 lifetime.

Race 3

(2) POKERFACE saved ground and finished decently last week; she showed some solid efforts from inside posts near the end of 2016. (5) DOC'S DIVA makes her second local start now in the Mark Ford barn and she may be capable of showing more. (1) NORTHERN SOIREE has raced well to hit the board in her last three but don't accept too short a price here on this 2 for 40 performer.

Race 4

(7) ZUZU debuts for new connections after hitting the board in her last five tries; she likely needs some help from this spot but is worth a look if the price is right. (5) COUSIN MARY looks for four straight and seems the one to beat. (1) FAMILY ROLL CALL was a good second last week and draws best again.

Race 5

(2) MR BAILANDO has been close up in all recent efforts, draws well again while meeting nothing special. (3) BRICKMAN gets needed post relief and picks up Bartlett. (5) BREAKTIME HANOVER was in behind a tiring rival last week and seems to be a contender again.

Race 6

(2) ROCK POWER was just shy from the pocket last week, his first start in a month. Banca trainee should be ready to roll tonight. (1) ROCKET J shook free with late pace last out, could do so again. (6) SPINSTIGATOR tried to rush up into the first turn and broke last out but his prior start was good; price factor.

Race 7

(5) DAKOTA JACK ships cross-country off a win for the Ruiz barn and he looks like he could fit nicely here; Bartlett drives. (3) J K COWBOY raced well upon arrival then was far back last week; he could be a player if he reverts to that effort two back. (1) FINAL JUSTICE has been tearing it up at Monti, but this isn't Monti...

Race 8

(8) TALK SHOW finished mildly after being glued to the rail versus rugged overnight foes last week; he's better classified tonight and may be good enough to overcome the eight hole. (1) AZUL POOL was a winner two back and moves all the way back inside. (2) BLAISE MM HANOVER went down the road last week and Bartlett sticks with him.

Race 9

(5) VINOVIO was a pretty good second last week and he meets a field without much early speed; does Holland try blasting from the gate? (7) BULLY PULPIT would be the clear one to beat if he had drawn inside. (4) SHANE ADAM fits with these but rarely wins.

Race 10

(3) GIVEMEYOURHEART moved to contention but was overwhelmed late last week; mare has had some nice efforts here in the past and should be the best price of the contenders. (6) MADE OF JEWELS AS was a good second in her first start moving to the Burke barn. (5) FREEZE OUT drew away impressively last week; logical.

Monday’s six-pack

— Dallas 122, Lakers 73— LA’s 2nd loss by 40+ points in last ten days.

— Concessions prices at Falcons’ new stadium: $5 beers, $2 hot dogs, $2 refillable sodas.

— Suns 115, Raptors 103— Damn good weekend for Phoenix, back/back road wins.

— T’wolves 111, Nuggets 108— Minnesota won five of its last seven games.

— Opening line for the Super Bowl: Patriots -3, with total of 57.5, which would be the highest total in Super Bowl history.
