OK I'll admit it, I was a pretty big Eli basher untill 3/4 of the way thru last season. He just FRUSTRATED me for so long. I've been a Giants fan since 1990, so not the first time I've felt that way about my team/players. But he proved himself. I think it's just people got so used to this "classic Eli" we've seen in the past and it's hard to let that go. If I wern't a Giants fan I'd probably still try to bash him myself. Hell, I bash Romo and that kid really hasn't gotten started yet. He's really a good QB, but you didn't hear it from me!
Eli had a rough time because he was playing in a REAL offense. He was being asked to do a lot. He isn't playing in some boring ball control crap. He doesn't drop back and throw screen screen dump off, te drag.
The guy is reading defenses and throwing the ball downfield. Did he make mistakes? Sure, but he was learning... he is smart.
Jason Campbell played is such an easy offense. 3 out of 5 throws are either a 1 yard WR screen, or a RB screen, or a 5 yard drag to cooley, with the occasional deep ball he hucks. The guy didn't even call audibles last year.
Nobody was bashing Jason Campbell and he wasn't even that good of a game manager.
Eli had his faults, but he was doing the real deal.
I had confidence that the "manning" would learn and improve.
The Campbells and trent edwards, and dump off QB's of the game aren't even doing the same thing.
