Matchup to watch: Nationals vs. Cubs

These two division leaders start a crucial four-game set at Wrigley Field as Washington continues a 10-game road trip. The Nationals have won five of the first six contests, including taking two of three from the Royals in interleague action. Washington owns a 4-1 record in road series openers, as Joe Ross takes the mound going for his fourth victory of the season. The Cubs became the first team to reach 20 wins in Wednesday’s 6-2 triumph at Pittsburgh to pull off the three-game road sweep. The Cubs are 2-2 in Kyle Hendricks’ four starts, as Chicago beat Washington in his two outings last season.

Billy Hamilton (thumb) is back in the Reds' starting lineup Thursday against the Brewers.

Hamilton has been in and out of the Reds' lineup over the last couple of weeks because of a jammed left thumb. The 25-year-old center fielder was able to serve as a late-inning defensive replacement on Wednesday night and he will bat second Thursday versus Brewers right-hander Chase Anderson.

Domingo Santana (lat) is out again Thursday.

It's his third absence in Milwaukee's last four games. Santana is battling some mild soreness around his right lat and the Brewers don't want to risk it turning into something more. Alex Presley will get another start in right field Thursday versus the Reds.

Jason Heyward (wrist) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Thursday.

Heyward is still dealing with discomfort in his right wrist and hasn't played since Sunday, when he went 0-for-5 against the Braves. Ben Zobrist is in right field and Tommy La Stella is at second base Thursday in the Cubs' series opener against the Nationals.

Jean Segura is back in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup Thursday versus the Marlins.

Segura missed a few games with a minor hip issue. He's batting leadoff and starting at second base in his return to action Thursday night against Miami left-hander Adam Conley. Segura, 26, boasts a .339/.368/.527 batting line with four home runs and 15 RBI in 26 games this season for the Snakes.

Ben Revere (oblique) is not in the Nationals' lineup Thursday against the Cubs.

Revere has joined the Nationals in Chicago after finishing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse. There was speculation he could be activated on Thursday but it appears the Nats will wait until Friday to make that move. Michael Taylor will start in center field and bat leadoff. Revere strained his oblique in Washington's season opener on April 4.
