John or Erik if you're reading this?
Could I have one of you two later tonight try and
create a +1 line using the calculator link you guys
provided?
Something seems off when trying to create the +1's
But okay with the -1's. Have heard people mention
glitches at times?
Thanks ( you can pm me if you want )
Kevy, I use the same link, and here's how:
The simple shortcut is to flip the two boxes..
On an underdog +1 line, enter the juice for the run line where you would normally enter the juice for the ML and vice versa. Basically, the calculator is calculating the math for two bets to cover each other, with one canceling out the other in a 1-run game. On an underdog, the run line becomes the "safe bet" that covers the ML, opposite the case with a favorite, where the ML is the security blanket to break even.
Example:
If you wanted to fade the Cubs tomorrow and take the Padres +1, you would wager as follows:
Game lines: Padres ML +174 & Run Line +1.5 +106...
Input Data:
Amount: 1000
ML Wager Odd: 106 (Enter +1.5 RL price)
-1.5 Runline Odd: 174 (Enter ML price)
Wager 1: 344.31 to win 364.97
Wager 2: 364.97 to win 635.05
+1 line: +141
Risk amount: 709.28
So if the Padres lose by 1, you win 364.97 on the +1.5 RL to cover the losing 364.97 ML bet and break even.
Naturally, with favorites, the -1.5 RL can't win without the ML winning, so we're turning the tables here. The ML can't win on an underdog without the +1.5 cashing.. Think of the boxes in the data input section as the "Safe/coverage wager" and the "Extra pay off wager." If you're able to step back and view it that way, it makes it simple.. On an underdog, just flip the titles of the two boxes for virtually the same effect and you should have your easy calculation.
Hope this helps, let me know if that's unclear or you have any questions.
