The people who believe that the celebration was random are the same exact people who think reality shows are real and unscripted. Lots of ignorant people in this world.
And if you believe all of the players who planted a smootch on their girlfriends were all spontaneous, also probably believe in the tooth fairy.

I'm not sure if there will be more or not. I'm sure eventually but tough to predict how fast something like this takes off. I think most gay players even after coming out would rather not talk about it since it could be a distraction....

The NFL gave them a green light to step out though....until it's too gay to watch.

I don't really get that at all. There isn't much incentive for some random WR taken in rd 1 to kiss his girlfriend.

Sam and his BF playing with cake with each other has made national news and will make him an icon in the gay community...

Their gay man.. What did you think they were going to do, link arms and sing Kumbiya?

No.

But you're trying to pretend it was the exact same thing as a guy giving his girlfriend a kiss.

It isn't, and wasn't. It was a televised 9 minute celebration.

I will say this, I disagree with people saying that there was no way his draft stock was effected by him being Gay. It's possible he just fell to rd 7 because that is where he was supposed to go but I'm guessing he could've gone higher.

It isn't necessarily that the teams are anti-gay or anything, its just that they aren't gonna risk a potential distraction for a marginal talent.

If a team is gonna deal with a potential distraction or something that could be a problem, it is gonna be someone that is a necessary evil like TO.

Same reason Tebow isn't in the NFL.

The US gay & lesbian is a huge market, their purchasing power is in the region of $800 billion last year. Everyone is trying to tap in this market. Micheal Sam knew exactly what he is doing. Kissing his white bitch on national tv was a part of the plan. There will be more gay athletes kissing each other on tv in every sports going forward, so get used to it fellas regardless you're gay, straight, biosexual, hybrid...or whatever.

I got the impression that Sam is the catcher after that performance.

Anyway, I don't know about $800 billion as about 9 million adults in America are gay. [More Here]

It's all relative I guess. I'm betting this wouldn't have been a big deal if it had happened between two male rugby players in Europe. Ten years from now this will probably be a "been there done that" non-issue.

This isn't gonna sound great but hopefully 10 years from now guys kissing on TV won't become normalized.

Hopefully they'll be replaced by two hot women kissing...

Ever watch Sopranos? Tony's shrink asking him how he feels about gays "I think its fuckin disgusting...Jennifer Beals though with the lesbians, that ain't bad...."

Smith took great pains to express that the kiss did not bother him personally, saying the way Sam reacted to the news was no different than what many other heterosexual players have done over the years. “If that’s how he chose to express himself, so be it,” he said. Despite the fact he had not yet seen the clip in question, Smith said he would tell the couple the same thing he would say to anyone else: “Get a room.”

I see that Michael Sam jerseys are the second biggest seller of NFL jerseys since being drafted on Saturday. It seems that St Louis fans are putting him back in the closet.

Its the classic risk vs reward. If clowney would have announced he was gay 3 months ago he would have still been the first pick of the draft because the talent differential between him and the next guy is just too great to ignore.

But in the case of a marginal player like Sam he might have slipped a round or 2 based on the talent differential not being enough to take on the perceived excess baggage

I think the league made the Rams take him since it's his home state, just to save face and not have to hear from the gay community or get into a lawsuit, I think Goddell made the call. It's sickening to me that this is being rammed down our throats, it's football not lifetime channel

I am sure that the queer community doesn't watch football. Let all the fairies go buy some Sam jerseys and prance around for a few months. Once the season gets here this will be a non factor......Thank goodness.

The cake in the face was disturbing to me. If you choose to be fruity....keep that behind doors. Most normal people don't want to see it.

#Homophobia:

Michael Sam: I should have gone in the first three rounds

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...i-should-have-gone-in-the-first-three-rounds/

despite the fact that I sucked at the combines (no pun intended)
scouts weren't impressed with me (or maybe they're homophobes too)
I'm slow (maybe his butt was hurting)
I can't jump (see I'm slow)

all pointing to the fact that I'm not that athletic when compared to my competition. (butt I have other strengths)

I'm sorry, I just hate people making themselves victims

and if he believes this, then maybe he should have shut his vagina until after he signed his contract

if he can play, he'll be given a chance. Teams like WINNING don'tchaknow

we'll never have a color blind society, we'll never have a judgement free society, as long as we continue to use race and discrimination as excuses for one's failures

I espouse a color blind and judgement free society, we'll only get there when men act like men (seriously, no pun intended here) and take responsibility for themselves and their results. As long as we create excuses, as long as we create victims, then we'll have shit like this thrown in our faces as if they're more important than the man they're standing next to.
