Agree with you Melchor, i dont think USA will put all the effort in this game, they dont need it, they have to keep their strenght for the next round so i also will take the +2!!!

USA team has alot of depth, whatever players they put in will give 100% to try to earn more playing time. USA has been missing chances at a high rate in the first two matches. The coach wasn't pleased they only scored 2 goals last game, I feel they could break out tonight. They'll finally play at a venue where the crowd will be pro US and if they can create the same number of chances they did in the first two games they can easily score 3+ goals against El Salvador. The class difference is quite big.

I say 4-1.

While I agree on some pts, favoritism sometimes clouds your judgment, USA is in another level, no question... I'm staying away for the same reason....

But this cup has proven to be far from a jog in the park for the "big" teams, Not Mexico, not USA, not anybody...... Not as many mismatches as you would've thought at the start of the tournament

You are probably right, my point is that USA doesnt need to risk too much in this game, they are already on the next round, this game will probably be different if USA would need the win but certainly this team has a lot of depth.

I don't see how much different it would be. US is playing at home in an international competition, they will not be playing half hearted. As I mentioned earlier the depth the US has is incredible and all the players are fighting for playing time, they will not be taking it easy on El Salvador.

T&T played defensive as did Guatemala and yet the chances were still there. And lets face it El Salvador doesn't have the same defensive organization as Guatemala. For a more accurate comparison you have to look at T&T. USA missed 6-8 great chances against Trinidad not including three horrific offside decisions that went against them, two of which would have led to clean one on one's with the goalie.

I guess you mean big favorite because Costa Rica and Canada won last night as favs. And the USA line against T&T was around 1.75/2 so it was moreso a winner than a loser (plus as I mentioned it should have been alot worse). The fact the line is only 1.5 today is because the books/bettors are just looking at the results of the games and not looking deeper.

I've watched every game of this gold cup and I can say from what I've seen El Salvador and T&T are the worst teams in the competition. Its also not going to help El Salvador they will likely miss goalie Juan Jose Gomez and midfielder Victor Merino after they were injured last game. Eliseo Quintanilla will also miss due to suspension.

Of course anything can happen but I would set the line at 2 1/4 for team USA.

-1.5 makes me nervous though. feel a bit better playing the total over 2.5 as I feel El Salvy is gonna put up some effort and try and get one in....see it ending 2-1 perhaps. you just never know.

Ill play the over too, i just realize my book has the goal line at -2 but the totals are over 2.5 -140, i think there is more value to play the over 2.5 than the goal line or spread!!!

YOu can also make a US -1 line, comes out to about -257.5 based on current 5dimes lines for -.5 and -1.5. Steep, but I don't see them drawing or losing this game.

WHile you are all right that they don't need the game, the talent discrepency is massive and the US sat most of their first choice 11 last game. Donovan only played about 30 minutes, Beasley didn't play at all, neither did Howard, Bocanegra, dempsey, Onyewu (back from suspension). Bradley only played about 10 minutes. Those guys are all likely to start today. Frankly, I thought the starters in game 2 played better, so I don't know if it matters all that much who they play. A lot of these guys are playing for roster spots in Copa America too. Thus, I don't think they will sit back and play for a draw.
