Honestly, no he won't lead them to the super bowl. I don't understand why people are so enamored with him. He's an above average rookie playing behind the best offensive line in the last 20 years, handing it off to arguably the best RB in football, has a hall of fame TE, and a talented WR corps.
The cowboys are the the only team in the NFL that runs more than they pass. This forces teams to inevitably put more bodies in the box, which in turn limits the coverages you can run. 90-95% of starting QB's in this league could do what Dak is doing right now. Every downfield throw I have seen him hit has been against man coverage without help over the top. Anytime the Cowboys actually have to pass they usually do so out of 4 or 5 WR shotgun sets bc Dak has poor under center footwork, and bc those spread sets allow him to isolate Beasley on 3rd CB or Safety or even an LB. 9 times out of 10 when the Cowboys are in that set they throw a quick 5-7 yard option route to Beasley. Look at the one long throw he made tonight (no safety help) easy throw. Everyone at home watching thinks wow what an unreal throw, but that's a routine throw in NFL and if it weren't for dez stretching out he would've missed it. Had barely over 5 yards per attempt tonight.
Your thread should be titled, "the Cowboys offensive line will lead Dallas to super bowl". Bc that's the truth. When Dak is under center Dallas is usually running some combo of inside zone, outside zone, and stretch. All of these plays are already difficult to defend when run properly. Nearly impossible to defend when against that O-Line and the best RB in football. The threat of bootleg (one of few passes from under center where he excells) keeps the backside end from cracking down, which has led to 3 long rushing TD's this year. The Cowboys are doing basic shit. Their offense is as basic as they come. Dak is not doing anything unbelievable bc he hardly ever gets touched, hardly throws any difficult passes, and has had success downfield due in large part to no help over the top.
Im not saying Dak is bad. He has been a very impressive rookie. But this notion that he's an MVP or the reason for dallas' success is ridiculous. I coach football and specifically the QB / WR positions. Dak has potential, and his numbers are impressive. Looking behind the numbers though he's still a rookie, still extremely limited, and has faced ZERO adversity yet this season. Dallas is not going to the super bowl.
