To be honest I'd probably return it too. With all the cameras everywhere they'd find out who he was and then arrest him.

Arrest him for what? Theft? He didnt steal anything, the money fell off a truck and into his lap. He could play dumb and act like he didnt even see the Brinks truck and even if he did, he still found it. Not like he walked in the brinks truck and took it.

How does money just fall off? They have locks on the trucks so I can't imagine the door just popping open. Makes me think that they money was thrown off the with the intention of picking it up later.

He is an idiot.

He should keep all of it and report it on his 1040.

It's perfectly legal for him to do so.

SERIOUSLY ,,

What is the law regarding something like this ??

Does it matter if the bag is labeled?

What if it was jewelery, i phones , or any other misc items ?? Would /could you keep them

What if it was trash in the bag ? would /could you keep that ?

Is possession truly proof of ownership?

In a property dispute (whether real or personal), in the absence of clear and compelling testimony or documentation to the contrary, the person in actual, custodial possession of the property is presumed to be the rightful owner. The rightful owner shall have their possession returned to them; if taken or used. I.E--- The shirt or blouse you are currently wearing is presumed to be yours, unless someone can prove that it is not.

SO UNLESS THE BAG IS MARKED/LABELED IN SOME WAY THAT MAKES IT DISCERNIBLE THAT IS THE ARMORED TRUCK COMPANYS --I SAY THEIR LOSS UNFORTUNATELY !!!!

Would any of the $ be marked so they could prove who it belonged to

It is. I think his first instinct is it's illegal for him to keep the cash but it might not be the case. What he should be doing was keeping the bag for a few months until no one disputing it, then it's all his. All he has to do is to report it on his tax return and pay tax on it. It's his gain, Brink will deduct it a loss.
