Houston is dangerous but I think Williams pitches a big game. This is a very good spot for the Cards at home against the Astros coming off a very strenuous series. Backe will not hold back the Cards awesome lineup. If Houston is close then I think the over will be safe too.

Very true, GL to ya, I will decide my stance later on in the day, but like to see you on the over as that was my first instinct when I found out Backe was pitching, but man, he has been good. I haven't seen him pitch so I don't know what to take of his first 9 starts.

Backe has been good. I have been impressed with a few of his starts. But this is the POSTSEASON now. He is on the road against the BEST hitting team in the Majors. The only way I see him being effective is if the Astros score 1st off Williams. If the score is 0-0 heading to the bottom of the 1st and he has to go at Womack, Walker, Pujols, Rolen, Renteria, Edmonds, Sanders without breathing room, he may unravel very fast. Remember how good Ankiel was for the Cards back a few yrs ago. Then the playoffs came and he hasnt been the same since. Plus the Astros pen is spent. Game 1 goes to the Cards ... 11-5

Pinnacle's Pick 4

(W.S. Winner/W.S. Loser/AL 2nd/NL 2nd)

Yankees/Cardinals/Red Sox/Astros +283 (4 Units)

I think this has some very good value now.

2 More Plays:

Yankees +1.5 -113 (4 units)
Yankees +145 (2 units)

I was thinking about this and realized 2 things: 1. I took these same 2 bets against a pitcher (Schilling) that has had success against the Yankees and is one of the best postseason pitchers in the history of baseball, in Game 1. And 2. If Boston would have won game 1 the line would be closer to Bos -115. Yankees have owned Pedro. I think the exact stat is that Boston is 6-17 in Pedro's last 23 starts against the Yankees. By Pedro's own admission he cant beat the Yankees. He is 1-1 with a 5.21 ERA in three starts at Yankee Stadium this season. I am not buying into the hype that Boston NEEDS this game more so they are the overwhelming favorite. Yes, on the surface they have a huge pitching advantage, but we all know that Pedro isn't Pedro when he faces the Yankees. When he faces the Yanks he goes from a top 5 pitcher to an average pitcher. On the other side, Lieber has been pitching pretty well. He went 5-0 in six September starts overall, and went 11-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 15 outings at The Stadium. The Yankees are the home team and although I admit they should be the underdog, they shouldn't be this big of one. I will take the value with "Daddy" home team.
