i agree with you on a couple points, disagree here and there. 1. why are people who can't afford to lose gambling here? you say it's there money, let them do whatever. i say they shouldn't deserve to have the choice if they can't determine a simple right from wrong.
i also disagree with you on why people gamble. i gamble for recreation only. i did play for profit in 2004 when i went on my incredible college basketball run on this forum, didn't regain it in 2005 and quit doing it to try and make money. i, along with other posters do it for the entertainment, not to make a career out of it. i have no emotion whether i win or lose because i don't bet with money i shouldn't bet with, which is what guys like quantumleap, etc do instead of the olballcoach's.
couple more points though.
when i'm browsing the forum and half the threads created are whining/bitching/moaning, it makes it harder for me to comb through the garbage to find information i'd like to read regarding a certain game.
if these people had any self-control and money management, this forum would be 10 times better for viewing game information efficiently instead of combing through all the bs.
wouldn't you feel better if the forum got rid of all the complainers who shouldn't even be betting to begin with?
I've been on this site for a long time and been gambling for even longer. I've never been broke and never been behind bills or had it affect me in that sort of fashion when I lose. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to complain about a loss especially when I seldom do.

Should people be gambling to make money if they can't afford to lose money? No, they shouldn't. However everyone has a different situation and have it harder then others. A few years back work was slow and I couldn't afford to pay the bills. I was doing everything from selling drugs to gambling. Any kind of hustle to make money. I found a bookie and started betting and did pretty well that I stopped selling drugs, so it was a positive. If you can bet for the pure sport of it and not worry about the outcome then you are blessed and should count your blessings. Not everyone can be so fortunate. GL.

I went for a few weeks without a losing day. I hit a little bump in the road and people were telling me that they lost and they bashed me. I believe one guy even said I lost him his college money. When I came back here from trying a career at touting people were mad at me for going and not telling them. A few people asked me and I had to tell them no. That hurt. I did this because of orders I was given to not talk about it by the higher ups. I respect this forum. A simple Google search a long time ago brought me here where I just sat silently and watched the best cappers like Ace Ace. I learned allot from him. He viewed the game just as I do. NUMBERS & %. I love numbers. Many years ago in the mortgage industry I was given the opportunity to manage a mortgage office after doing well as a loan officer. There was not enough business to go around and the office was struggling. I started looking at all of the loan turndowns and found ways to work the numbers to make the loan work. I would have the client pay something off to adjust their debt ratio or something crazy out of my head that benefited the client. I put a new marketing plan together which was to have my loan officers go and solicit other loan officers instead of actual borrowers for their turndowns and bring them to me so I can make the NUMBERS work (no I wasn’t responsible for the mortgage crises). It took off like crazy and then I talked the owners into allowing me to open branches for them around the country and make them profitable. They of course loved it but the real reason I made that happen was to be able to find ways to work with NUMBERS in different parts of the country to see what numbers and methods worked and did not. I became the national manager based on my love for numbers. Then I fire a girl and BAM! She has 7 men jump me in a parking lot and puts a hammer through my head. It all came to and end. I had a 47% chance of dying but pulled through. When you are that close to death you have a new outlook on life. You learn to smile and more importantly enjoy in other peoples time of joy. The RX started my interest in handicapping and for that I will always be loyal. Like last week when the site went down and someone at the other forum bashed Wilhelm I promptly stepped in and defended him. I would never wish a loss on anyone in this forum. Even if I did think like that I would go to other forums and wish them guys bad luck just because they do something stupid like GTC08 said (from what i read, especially the atlanta game is people getting on the hawks for scoring points which is the dumbest thing i've seen, had to stop myself from laughing on that one). But I don’t even do that. You ask why I don’t gamble on my picks? Because after that hammer went through my head I went from a comfortable 6 figure income to being almost bed ridden for almost 2 years with no income. I am now working on getting myself back on track as a loan officer but I am not 100% there yet. But next season I can’t wait. When I do my capping I have 2 full sheets of paper per game with scribble everywhere. It’s all what I love. NUMBERS. I use all the stats that are available to me and come up with my own formula’s and adjust them as the season goes on. Right now I don’t put money on it because I still am not back to where I was before my surgery financially. I need to get back there first. I am doing good but not there yet. I read the thread from GTC08 and it was like he was reading my mind. I see people chasing money and using too many personal opinions when it really is a lot about numbers & %. I see people say the game was fixed because they lost. I see a lot of crazy statements on here. But I never say anything because I don’t want to be the guy to piss in their cheerios. When I get bashed I rarely defend myself but this time I decided to. As far as the touting, people act like I didn’t do well or anything. This is not the case. I went 3-0 on my last night! I don’t gamble right now because of the aforementioned and I do it because most believe that gambling is a losing game. Because of my love for NUMBERS, I don’t see it that way and if people can benifit from my love for numbers im all for it. I just want to beat the books because they say it cant be done. Nope Phoenix PD was too busy with serial murderers. But I know who they are. They dont know I know but I do. In the near future all 7 of them will meet me face to face. And this time they wont have a hammer. Neither will I. I think about it every day. LOL I guess that makes me crazy. Most people would agree.
