The pumps don't work because the vandals took the handles.

You think Bob Dylan could ever have envisioned this crazy society?

As cutting edge as he was whats happening today is beyond credulity for anyone sane of fifty years ago.

They have a Democrat Mayor.

The Governor of Illinois is a Democrat.

The Illinois Legislature is majority-Democrat

Chicago's Aldermen are majority-Democrat.

There hasn't been a Republican Mayor since 1931.

See a pattern here?

They tried a republican governor once, but he was sent to federal prison.

What happened to the governors after him?

Since prison is a benchmark on how a governor does

Bruce Rauner was fine but everything he tried was blocked by the super majority Democrats in the state legislature. Then, after 4 years of blocking everything, they say he didn’t fix it and go back to what got them in the mess to begin with.

I don’t see the benefit of you arguing this point. Illinois is one of the worst run states in the entire fucking country by any measure.

Chicago restaurant owner on 'disturbing' looting and rioting: 'Business is terrible, the streets are empty'

Chicago restricted downtown access by raising its bridges.

The looting occurring in Chicago is “very scary and disturbing,” said local business owner Roupen Demirdjian on Tuesday.

“The streets are empty and this time of year hotels would be full and the streets would be full. The rioting and violence have stopped people from coming downtown,” Demirdjian told “America’s Newsroom.”

“We’re a big target down here. Business is terrible. The business has been terrible for eight months. We have January and February where we do nothing and then the COVID-19 shutdown and now this. It’s been challenging. But, we’re going to get through it. We’re strong here in Streeterville.”

Black Lives Matter members in Chicago held a rally on Monday to support the more than 100 arrested last night following widespread looting and rioting that caused at least $60 million in property damage and saw 13 police officers injured, according to a report.

The rally was organized by Black Lives Matter Chicago and was held at a police station in the South Loop where organizers say individuals are being held in custody. At least one organizer called the looting tantamount to "reparations."

“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” said Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, according to NBC Chicago. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

Demirdjian said violence is not the way to "get the message across" and he's hoping a sense of normalcy returns.

“If it's for food and clothing, I do believe there are other avenues than looting and rioting,” said Demirdjian, whose family emigrated to the city from Armenia in 1970 and opened their restaurant, Sayat Nova, on the Magnificent Mile.

He said he loves the city and is not planning to relocate

Chicago locals fight off protesters and shut down BLM rally to prevent looting

Chicago residents infuriated by looters blighting the city are fighting back — angrily kicking out a Black Lives Matter protest.

As access was again blocked to downtown overnight to stop more marauding — with bridges raised and expressway ramps closed — protesters turned to the troubled South Side neighborhood where a man allegedly started a shootout with cops in an arrest that sparked the chaos.

But the Englewood locals pushed back, insisting the agitators are nothing to do with the area — and kicking out the protesters from BLM and groups campaigning to defund the police, according to Fox 32.

“If you ain’t from Englewood, get the F–k out of here,” longtime local resident Darryl Smith shouted at protesters during tense confrontations.

“Y’all don’t come out when a kid gets shot. Y’all come out when it’s got something to do with the f—ing police,” he yelled through a loudspeaker, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“If your issue is with the police, take it to 35th and Michigan,” he shouted, referring to Chicago police HQ. “Don’t come in Englewood with it.”

The rally made its way to the police station for the officers involved in Sunday’s shootout with Latrell Allen — but again was quickly dispersed after angry push back by locals who said the looting was nothing to do with the neighborhood.

“None of these motherf—ers are gonna be here tomorrow. That’s why I got a problem,” lifelong Englewood resident Duane Kidd, 42, told the Sun-Times.

“If they would’ve gotten something incited with the police, who’s gotta deal with it tomorrow? The community. Not them.

They’ll be somewhere sipping sangria somewhere. I’m telling you like it is.”

The march dispersed after less than an hour following the standoff, with an organizer saying they did not feel safe.

“We refuse to let anyone come to Englewood and tear it up,” one local, Charles McKenzie, told the station.

Even a grandmother of Allen — who was hit in return fire after shooting at cops Sunday, triggering the looting — hit out at the carnage, saying there is “no excuse” for it.

“I don’t agree with the looting because that’s just an excuse to get what they want,” Joyce Brown told the Sun-Times.

A Chicago Black Lives Matter organizer, Ariel Atkins, previously defended the looting — calling it a “reparation.”

Chicago store may shutter for good after looters wrecked it for second time

A devastated Chicago store owner said he may have to close for good — after looters trashed his business for the second time in months.

Walid Mouhammad told WLS how his convenience store was targeted again just 40 days after a $300,000 restoration because it was trashed at the end of May by thugs claiming to be protesting George Floyd’s death.

The store was hit again Monday while Mouhammad was watching in real-time on security cameras as the robbers ripped out a pricey new steel security door, then trashed the store and even ripped out an ATM, he said.

Mouhammad said he and the building’s owners and staff repeatedly called for police help — but none came as the force was overwhelmed by marauders across the city.

“This is the second time,” Mouhammad told the station. “I’ve been open for just 40 days, so who will be responsible for this?”

Mouhammad said the damage is worse than the May attack, and he fears that after spending so much repairing that damage, just to see it destroyed again will likely force him to close down for good.

That would be particularly alarming for locals during the pandemic, especially the elderly who rely on his store for fresh produce and meat and would now need to travel for vital supplies, residents said.

The latest looting was sparked by the police shooting of Latrell Allen, 20, on Sunday — but cops only fired after he repeatedly shot at them while trying to flee arrest, the police department has said.

Allen is being held on $1 million bond on two counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon.

Good for the residents of Englewood pushing back against BLM protesters.
What i find interesting and a bit amusing is the quote i highlighted in red. of all the things the guy could have said they are out sipping he chose Sangria. Made me chuckle. Was it because many of them protesting were white? i don't know. Only guessing.
