There is
NO denying the game is easier with advances in tech.,; shafts, ball, head . By 'easier' meaning the misses arent as bad, this is so huge. And , of course, distance has dramatically improved- scoring is so much easier hitting a wedge rather than a 7 iron into a green. A yr ago, i remember watching Kuchar ( not a bomber) hit an approach into a par 5 at Augusta with a hybrid. Augusta greens, as u know, r like glass. He held the green-- NO WAY he holds the green with a long iron . So, yeah the game becomes 'easier' .
With that said, the monies involved in today's game is insane . McIlroy made $39 million in endorsements for 2019 , wtf. So the sport is attracting more people , even athletic guys, Dustin Johnson types. Whereas before we'd have the Tom Kite, M O'Meara's of the world play this 'nerdy' game of golf. In addition , some of these players r working out, strength training. Dont see many Craid Stadler physiques out there anymore.
J Nicklaus was curious and wanted to see how DJ would hit his old permission wood and 1 iron, well...DJ still hit it a mile. Not as far of course as his current driver , but wuold have been one of the longest in Jack's day
