I figured it was a fluke the first time downhill, wind, etc. because I'm about 330 on an all out drive down the pipe. But i seent it at least 3 times...not down hill. prob a tad wind, but nothing substantial.
guy was an option qb for an academy...about 6'2" 225 and ripped...that physique helps no doubt.

never been a Ping guy, but their G400 Max driver really is awesome. Not the longest out there. Also its recent wedge entries have raised eyebrows

one of the most underrated companies is Srixon , imo. Their z585, z785 irons are really damn good, check a lot of boxes including feel, forged . Do the Japanese make anything that's not of good quality ?

I have the G400. Consistent but not long for me. But that has to do with old basketball injuries taking its toll

I would suggest the S56 Ping irons if you can find them with the KBS Shafts. Not too thick like the callaway's but not blades either. I've been playing mine for past 11 years & there has never been a thought of getting other irons. They are so forgiving and mishits are often 'good misses'.

If you're like me, after you double the 1st and 2nd, you'll be on 3 tee box wishing you had your old clubs and money back.

a STACKED field at The Colonial , pairings r out...

McIlroy/Rahm/Koepka -- World #1, world #2, world #3 ............@):)

Fowler/Thomas/Spieth

DJ/Rose/DeChambeau

its a par 70, only two par 5's one of which is 631yds. Not exactly beneficial for the longer hitters. The course demands premium driving

Have a question for you.. How much less would a Tour player be today using equipment from 20 years ago ?

We went to a get together yesterday (because Covid is a puss and most of my friends have known that since it started) and forgot about my auction.
It ended up going to where I would have still paid. Oh well.
Bought some M2s (only been hit twice per seller) and having them overnighted for 4 hundy all in.

eBay taxes are a scam. This guy is not a business and is based in Ohio.
I think he could and should have set the tax option to 0% for an out of state buyer...but he never responded when I suggested that.

There is NO denying the game is easier with advances in tech.,; shafts, ball, head . By 'easier' meaning the misses arent as bad, this is so huge. And , of course, distance has dramatically improved- scoring is so much easier hitting a wedge rather than a 7 iron into a green. A yr ago, i remember watching Kuchar ( not a bomber) hit an approach into a par 5 at Augusta with a hybrid. Augusta greens, as u know, r like glass. He held the green-- NO WAY he holds the green with a long iron . So, yeah the game becomes 'easier' .

With that said, the monies involved in today's game is insane . McIlroy made $39 million in endorsements for 2019 , wtf. So the sport is attracting more people , even athletic guys, Dustin Johnson types. Whereas before we'd have the Tom Kite, M O'Meara's of the world play this 'nerdy' game of golf. In addition , some of these players r working out, strength training. Dont see many Craid Stadler physiques out there anymore.

J Nicklaus was curious and wanted to see how DJ would hit his old permission wood and 1 iron, well...DJ still hit it a mile. Not as far of course as his current driver , but wuold have been one of the longest in Jack's day

290 yards with a permission wood? lol , surprised he didnt break off the head

what's ur take?

Just curious more than anything else , a tour player today using equipment from 20-25 years ago. How big a drop off in competing ?

so im clear, Player A uses tech (clubs/ball) from the Nicklaus era and the field uses today's tech?

fuck, not fair. HUGE disadvantage. He's lost 25-35 yrds off the tee from the get go!!!!!

You can almost define Nicklaus era 40 years ago.. Those equipment differences seem kinda obvious...Let's say what Tiger did in 97 Masters til now.

bottom line is at 7:12

he'd be giving away 20 yds off the tee. 16 yrds of carry. To say nothing of improved forgiveness

how big a drop off in competing ? for shorter players off the tee? kaput
